I posted this in the wrong place. I meant to post this under non-textbook based middle school lessons.
Fun with tongue twisters! I did this with grade 2 and 3 A classes.
1. Give them the handout and review tongue twisters on a ppt. Explain some words if needed (like "kitten" and "arctic"
2. Put them in groups of 4-5 and play "Baskin Robbins 31" with Peter Piper and the Woodchuck one. Basically, each person can say 1, 2 or 3 words from the tongue twisters at a time and whoever ends up saying the last one loses and is eliminated. Play until each group has one winner. Winners can to the front of the classroom for the finals. The group of the winner of the finals gets a prize.
3. See which group can read all of the short tongue twisters the fastest. I gave the students 5 minutes to practice. There were seven short tongues twisters and each group member had to read at least one, but all of the tongue twisters needed to be read (so some students read two). I timed each group to see who could do it the fastest. They got really into it.
