Word on the Street Board Game
« on: July 15, 2016, 12:30:32 PM »
Hey there. I made a printable version of Word on the Street Junior. It's a category / spelling game. I tested it with a few of my mid-low level middle school first graders, and it went well. If you don't know how to play the game, here is a YouTube video that's helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD9oQyduIOw

In my test game, I didn't use the category cards and just used the category "animals" for the entire game. I think the cards would be good for intermediate/ advanced students.

My cards are also the "ink saver" variety (black and white). If you school is okay with you using the color printer, here's a link for a card template:

Really nice find.

I had never heard of this game. In it's current form maybe a little hard for my elementary students but definitely the mechanics are something to work with.

Thanks for linking the video as well.

The first team to get 8 letters on their side of the road wins the game. Also remember that once the letters are on their side of the road the students can continue to use them as long as they are their letters.

Thank you so much for posting this game! My kids had a great time playing it.

I want to thank you for sharing this game! I've played it with different levels at my hagwon and all of the classes have enjoyed it.

Instead of using the board, I've just printed out the cards and then I drew the board on the whiteboard horizontally and erased letters to move them. That way you can make it a team based game if you'd like.
