To elicit conversation from my high school students I used these PPTs to ask a set of questions at the beginning of a class.

These questions created a conversation that usually lasted 10-15 minutes.

Whether or not this activity is successful depends on such variables as: how tired the students are, how tired you are, the students’ level of ability and confidence, your confidence, etc. I can say that in my own classes the activity always had mixed results.

And some questions here are obviously better than others.

But I’ll post the PPTs here in case they are of some use to someone.
