Zero-prep no-handout get-to-know-you lessons for K-3?
« on: July 23, 2016, 01:41:20 AM »
Hello! I will be departing the US of A to teach English in Korea in about a week and I've been instructed to come prepared with a few zero-prep no-handout lessons. I've done some browsing on the site and found a lot of really cool stuff, but nothing I could do without some time to prepare.

Does anyone have any ideas for get-to-know-you chants or games that would work well for kindergarten to grade 3?

Thanks!

Simple tongue twisters,   if you like chocolate or strawberry,   basketball, football etc with different questions etc go to this corner.

"Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar" chant is great for 3rd grade and it gives you a chance to learn names. The school might have a copy of the book.

Younger kids enjoy songs with lots of movement. I recommend classics like "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" but you can also learn some new songs before you get there and make up your own movements.

One really easy thing to teach early on is "Do you like ____?" "Yes, I do/No, I don't." You could get to know them by their likes and dislikes and then teach them a song:
