Homemade twister
« on: July 26, 2016, 10:58:21 AM »
I was thinking of adding twister as an ice-breaker to my summer camp.

I was thinking of printing out the red, blue, green and yellow spots, cutting them out and taping them to the floor.

Should work, but I'd like to hear other's thoughts on this. I know some people are using pavement chalk, but I'd rather let the students play the game in doors with the AC on. I don't want either myself or the students getting heatstroke or something lol.

I originally planned to do Twister inside but ended up holding the activity outdoors as the very first activity since we start pretty early in the morning (8:30am). And we are lucky to have pavement that's in the shade next to a big building.

That being said, when considering indoor Twister I was going to cut out dots from colored paper and then laminate them-- some of my kids get really into games and I fear just using paper would get torn up too easily even if I only used it once. Oh and use a strong tape :)

I did this last year as a craft activity for my Inside Out Camp and it went over really well! :) I used this weird clear lino that I found lying around my school and we cut up different coloured circles for it.
Instead of making the spinny board, we just made 2 dies for each board- one for colours and one for body parts. It went over really well and the kids had loads of fun!

I did this just today, and the kids loved every moment! I cut out circles and laminated them. I then bought a cheap shower curtain from Daiso. I taped the circles onto the shower curtain, then I taped the shower curtain to the ground. It made cleaning up really easy and I'm surprised to say, it stayed completely intact. I can even use it again next year.

I also used an online spinner to make things random, you can find it here:

I have 2 Twister games I am about to throw out.  The wheel on one doesnt work, but other is in perfect condition.  If anyone lives near Pyeontaek and wants them, let me know.  Willing to mail them if you pay postage.
