Hello all! I'm new to these forums but not to PowerPoint games.

I'd like to share my games with everyone who frequents here. I use macros to do cool things like keeping scores, customizing names, and other neat things VBA programming can do. Ever see PowerPoint call out Bingo numbers, or generate Bingo cards, or even let you play Plinko?

Note: Some templates may not work well with the 2010 version of PowerPoint. There is a problem with how 2010 reads the timer code and could cause your PowerPoint to freeze. These were created with 2013, and have been told work well with 2016.

These games update frequently. For the most up-to-date versions, visit my site:

Just added: Bird Brain Baseball!

This game plays like baseball, but with trivia questions. If a batter answers correctly, they get a hit. Depending on the question difficulty determines whether or not they hit a single, double, triple, or even a Home Run! Easy to customize. Instructions included. This template uses macros.*

I've gone back and revised one of the first templates I've made with VBA, Wheel of Fortune! It's more dynamic than the last version, allowing you to have as many puzzles and toss up rounds as you'd like, and in any order that you'd like. The next button will tell you what type of round to expect next. If there's no more puzzle rounds, it will change to link you to the Final round.

Editing puzzle rounds are a breeze! All you have to do is select a square, type one letter IN CAPS, and then change the fill to white. That's it. (Unless your puzzle has more than one letter in it, then you'll have to do that again and again several times.)

It still has all the same features as the older one, real time score keeping, sounds, and an all new look with new graphics. Check it out below, and let me know how it goes! (No, seriously. There may be some bugs I didn't catch after revising it from top to bottom. Thanks!)

EDIT:  There is one major flaw - vowel O does not display when clicked.

I just tested out the wheel of fortune.  There is no sound when the wheel is spinning.  If you were to add that, it would definitely help to further enhance the game atmosphere.

It works well enough on one as well as two screens - though you are limited to 3 puzzles when using one screen (though I can add additional hyperlinks to remedy this problem).  I'm not sure if 'toss up' round is necessary.  In fact, that gave me an idea to make a different game altogether.
By the way, what is the purpose of the wheel with letters and stars?  The good thing is, I can skip all of the areas I don't think are necessary with hyperlinks, so none of these are an issue.

Aside from that, I really like that students can choose the strength of the spin.  There is another wheel game on this site and it really lacks in that department - students need to feel like they are in partial control of the wheel spin in order not to feel cheated when it hits bankrupt or negative points.  Speaking of the wheel, I'm not sure if it's necessary to have 3 different arrows for 3 different teams - it creates more confusion (for the teacher).  One arrow in the middle is enough.

The money counter works well - thumbs up.

It is easy to edit, which is a definite plus.

I'll have to review this game a bit more before using it in class - but from what I can tell, everything looks great.  And again, the wheel spinning sound is definitely lacking.

All in all, great job.  Thanks for sharing.

By the way, with your programming skills, I bet you could come up with an awesome matching game.

Wow, thanks for the reply and taking the time to dive into the game! I do appreciate it when a new set of eyes takes a look at my work, as they are the ones that find all the stuff that have slipped by me, like the "O" button for example.

EDIT:  There is one major flaw - vowel O does not display when clicked.

To fix the "O" button, all you have to do is select it, and then go to Action Settings, and click on Add Macro. From the drop down list, select "GetLetter" and you're done.

Having a hard time selecting it? Try using the Selection Pane! On the HOME tab at the top, there's a section at the very far right that has 3 very useful and underused tools in PowerPoint. Go to Select, and open up the Selection Pane. From there, you can scroll through all the shapes and text boxes and such on that slide. Click on the shape called "TriggerO" once and it will select it for you, and then you can change the Action Settings once it's selected.

Thanks for that catch by the way.

I did consider adding sound at first, but this is something I thought wasn't necessary and probably super repetitive to hear every time. I'll add it as an option on that slide whether or not you want the sound effect or not with it defaulting to ON.

Ok, this one could be me not explaining this feature that well in the template. I could expand on the How To Edit section in the future.

You're not limited to the 2 puzzles and Final that are defaulted in the template. Copy over as many ROUND, or TOSS UP slides as you'd like and put them in the section where the 2 default puzzles are. Delete the original 2 afterwards unless you want one puzzle to say "TESTING GAME BOARD" Slide order does NOT matter as long as all your puzzle slides are in that middle section between the Guide and the Wheels. The button will do the rest.

This is something I'm still looking into. It's rough coming up with these templates, since there are very very few templates out there that mess with VBA as I do. As soon as I can figure out how to program a matching game, it'll definitely be added to my site!

Thanks again for your reply, and I look forward to seeing you check out the rest of this, and hopefully my other games so I can continue improving them!

Yep - that fixed the O issue.  Thanks.

Anyways, here is my edit.  As you can see, it's been simplified to 4 rounds - no bonus, no letters/stars wheel, no toss up and no final round.

And I've added sound to the spinning wheel for good measure (unfortunately, the sound length is always the same, regardless of how hard you spin the wheel).

I tested it out - it works without any issues - though I will definitely test out on the school computer before using it in class.  One of my main concerns is that even on my aging gaming notebook, the wheel doesn't spin smoothly and if the frame rate is this bad on my computer, I dread to think of how bad it's likely to be on the school computer.

By the way, here is an example of what a smooth wheel spin looks like.  It's also with sounds.

Perhaps it may give you some ideas on how to improve your wheel.

Cheers.

PS.  I did not make this version of the wheel of fortune - it's from this site - https://www.youthdownloads.com/games/wheel-fortune-powerpoint-game

I have made some updates and fixes and attached it here as 4.1.

- Improved How To section to hopefully better explain how to use this template
- Added sound effect to wheel and option to turn it on or off
- Only one spinner marker will appear. Click on the player's color to display their spinner.
- Added warning pop-up to prevent accidental MAIN MENU click
- Other minor coding tweaks

The wheel is normally done by animations, as you have linked. The only problem with it, is that the wheel resets every time you start the spinning. So, if you know the timing just right, you can time when to hit stop to land on the space you want (or avoid.) With how I have it set up now, it's based off a code which rotates the whole wheel so that it will remain in the same spot it landed the next time you visit. Add that with a bit of a randomizer with the spin length, AND a slider to further adjust the length of spin, equals a more random and fair wheel in my opinion. Unfortunately, the wheel doesn't move as smooth as with animation, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to take for a more fair gameplay.

As for your edit, I don't think you understood when I said you can have as many puzzles as you want. I took a look at your edit, and that's how I had my earlier version of the game set up, with direct links to each slide. I had a request to come up with one with more puzzles in one, and that prompted me to redo this template entirely. Please try copying over as many round or toss up slides as you want and paste them after Slide 4 (The How To section.) Order them in how you want them to appear from first as Slide 5 to your last just before the wheels. The top button will change and send you to the next puzzle each and every time you return to the first slide.

I do appreciate your time in wanting to help me improve my game, and I look forward to seeing your thoughts on this update!

Changing gears now, and adding a feature to my Bingo Caller . . . the ability to customize your card pattern!

The Bingo Caller still picks numbers at random, and you can still remove groups of balls not in use so you don't have to sit through all 75 balls when all you need is all the B's and O's for 4 corners. It will also count down all remaining balls left to be called, and will also display all balls already called.

Also attached, Make a Bingo Card Generator. This will automatically generate as many bingo cards for you to print off. I recommend printing 2 or 4 per page after you have generated them.*

Enjoy!

*This item pairs well with Bingo Caller, and sometimes Cabernet Franc

For the first time ever, you can now play Plinko in PowerPoint! This is just a stand-alone random point generator where you control where the chip gets dropped, and then watch it fall randomly into one of 9 slots. Use this in conjunction with correct questions as additional chips, just like on some famous long running TV gameshow!

Are you Smarter Than a 5th Grader? Prove it, with this game! This macro-enabled template has a set 10 question format plus a final question which is worth 10 times the amount you have won answering the first 10 questions. Features include: real-time score keeping, 5 virtual students, randomized student's favorite and least favorite subjects, PEEK, COPY, & SAVE cheats,  sound effects, and more.

As always, this and other games can be found at my website at rusnakcreative.com. Enjoy!

Alphabet Bingo!

I modified my bingo caller and card generator to now use upper and lowercase letters instead of numbers. You have the option to use uppercase only, lowercase only, or both for the caller and the card generator. I have underlined the lowercase letters to help differentiate some letters from similar looking uppercase letters, ie: lowercase L and uppercase I.

This is a quick and easy PowerPoint file that will randomly pair a group of names to assign each other a secret Santa. Enter the participant's names on Slide 1, and then run Slide 2 and follow the directions. The program will not pick yourself or another name that has already been picked. More simple and efficient than drawing from a hat!

Also, I have posted a Christmas trivia game with 100 questions using my Bird Brain Baseball template. Both games can be found at this link. Enjoy!

Cheers for all the effort.
But am I one of the only teachers who have had PPT removed from their PC's and are forced to use Hanshow....which often has errors or trouble running many of the bomb games ?

More often than not the Hyperlink has to be moved forward 1 slide for every button/link.

I'm sorry to hear you aren't enjoying all things PowerPoint, seantheman. Would you be able to bring in your own personal laptop with PowerPoint to use? I would hope you'll be able to find a work around so you can enjoy all these games for your kids.

I have the same trouble with hanshow. So I modify the ppts from my laptop and move them to school computer. And I use ppt viewer. It's bothersome but way better
than hanshow.

Hope you enjoy the games with your students.
