Funny Customs Lesson
« on: May 09, 2011, 01:38:16 PM »
I used this power point to accompany one of the units in my textbook that talked about what happens when two cultures come together. The kids really got a kick out of it..

Do you actually believe that Australians don't wear pink on Sundays?

If I had a better understanding of Korean and my students had a better understand of English I would definitely use this.

Apparently the ones that do end up in prison.  Stereotyping, much?
Also, it's "girls" not "girl's".  Maybe you could add "American's go to Korea to teach kid's English, but they can't buy gun's here".

Sorry guys...I wasn't trying to stereotype anything. I just looked at a website that explained strange laws in different countries and made my power point based on those. Obviously those laws are outdated and probably were never inforced...but they made the students smile. And yes...I know that there were grammar mistakes but again I wasn't worried about the placement of my apostrophe, but rather just wanted to get some material out to share.

thanks for posting. i love reading about silly laws (even if out dated). i always want to know the back story of why or what actually happened to cause these laws to be put in place. i will definitely share some of the differences between america and korea with my students.
