Hello,
I have been teaching at a vocational/technical high school on and off for a couple of months. The deal is, that if they pass a test they have the opportunity to go to Australia for a few months. I helped them over the first hurdle which was learning a LOT of phrases (based on classroom language that would be used by a Korean English teacher). 2/3 of the students passed, which was great, but now they have another test which is going to be 70% spoken.
I have a book (Everyday English 1 and 2, I think that they are Korean published and not used by many places). The students are all boys and very low level. They are really good kids, and I think that some of them are trying ... but some of them really aren't. Some of them are exhausted by the time they come in to my class, and generally turn up late, barely managing to keep their eyes open.
So what I want to know, is if anyone else out there is doing something similar. Their test is on June 24th, and I see them every week day between then and now for 2 hours. I'm running out of ideas, and do have to stick to the topics of using English abroad in situations such as eating out and transportation, as these are the ones in the book that the teachers have told us will be included in their test.
Anyone in the same boat or knows of anything like this and could help, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks fellow Waegooks! :)
