Music tells a story
« on: June 14, 2011, 05:04:36 PM »
This is a lesson I used in my High School - 1st & 2nd grade. It worked really well with the advanced classes and was at least interesting for the lower level classes.
There are 5 songs (my classes ar edivided in to 5 groups), after listening/watching each video I assign a song to each group. Then they have to write down a description of the story in the song and discuss with the class - To be honest 5 songs takes up a lot of time, too much time. I give them the written lyrics and I have underlined certain words and phrases. This is good for the very advanced students - if they know the refernece and/or meaning then they get points for their team. Hope you enjoy it.
PS i embedded the songs but most songs are forbidden and have to be played via youtube.

This is a cool idea, though I think I may use some different songs. Most of my students aren't advanced/worried about what they may choose to infer from a few of these songs!
