This is a Video Game lesson that teaches students some slangs popularized by video games. No need to make a lesson plan as the slides speak for themselves.

You'll need South Park season 10, episode 8 "Make Love, Not Warcraft" with Korean subtitles. This is an easy lesson I made for my vocational students for the pre-exam period, however this is also useful for the post-exam period.

The lesson was designed for use in Public High Schools with classes ranged in the 40+ and yes, the lesson has been tested and it works wonders. The Video Game fanatics among your students will love this lesson so it's most useful for boys but even if some students hate Video Games they'll love the South Park episode anyways.

The Korean subtitles you will find on gom.gomtv.com/jmdb , simply type in warcraft and you should see the links to two versions. Pick the one dated 2024/01/28 as that is the version I use. The episode itself you'll either have to look around the net for it or PM me for it. In your case I already PMed you that link.

Please let me know how it goes for you if you do end up using it.

I just now PM'd for the download link as well.

While I'm well aware of the popularity of video games among students, I have no idea how familiar Korean youth is with South Park. Other than exposure through us foreigners, is it on their radar at all? (Just curious).

@ruraljeolla: hardly ever, a couple of kids of mine have apparently seen it, but that's about it. On that note, this is the perfect episode to expose those kids to South Park as many of them know World of Warcraft. I even have my students asking for more episodes, which I intend to give them.

P.S. It also works wonders when you want them to get into something beside The Simpsons, not that The Simpsons is bad or anything.

Hey I used this lesson at my Academic high school with my boy's class. Unfortunately the subs didn't link up well, no idea why. They

did something to slow them down and they still were off. aside from that they did love the episode for all intents and purposes.
However, just to warn others (I pre-watched it so I knew it was coming and went ahead anyhow)- they show Cartman taking a
"ddung" as my boys all yelled out disgustedly. My lesson finished before the video so I'd hoped they miss that part, but
unfortunately, they opted to stay over the break to watch the end. In my next class I'll probably blackout the screen for that part
since the last thing I want the teachers talking about is me showing that to the students. Thankfully my co-teacher who came to
class didn't look up from her book to watch with us!

@kaymac: I think the copy of the episode you have is the problem as it probably did not match up with the timing of the subtitles. I'll PM you the link to the copy I used.

I have been using this lesson this week with my high school boys and they have loved it! I had boys asking questions about the vocab and in one particular class as soon as they saw the first sign with "Blizzard" on they started chanting my name, sreaming you are the best! So well done to the OP for this awesome lesson, thanks!!!

I just scrapped my plans for todays class and replaced it with this. They should love it! :)

A bit concerned about the use of the word 'asshole' but I guess it's pretty harmless - they already know more English curse words than I do!

I was going to use this for my middle school class, but I think the general language of it is too vulgar :(

The subs are fine in the beginning, but they get way out of sync about 7 minutes in. It gets progressively worse. I do agree that the language may not be appropriate for middle school... I might use the big Bang Theory episode where Penny gets obsessed with a computer game.
