Job and University words for graduating students
« on: July 05, 2011, 10:19:29 am »
This was my first lesson after my class received those Korean to English dictionaries.

I teach third years so I thought I'd teach them some useful words for university or the workplace (as a lot of my students won't be going to university).

I did make this into a team competition. It's divided into two sections, university and jobs. At the beginning of each is a list of words in Korean and the students raced to translate all of them using their dictionaries. Afterwards, I'd show a picture and the students would have to guess what university major it represented. To help them, I gave them the first letter of the word. If the answer was business and they said economics, I'd still give them a point. Then for the jobs section, I'd show a picture of a job and they'd have to tell me the name of the job ex: architect. Pretty straightforward.

*********UPDATE*********** There was some formatting issues, so I re uploaded a new version. Please let me know if it works!

Unfortunately, none of the pictures in the "What is the Job" and "What is the Major" slides come out on the download. Could you check that out?  Maybe the problem is from my side - I'm not sure.

Otherwise, thanks for this. It would make a nice change from the usual chunky, dry, heavy-duty SAT's-style paragraphs I teach the 3rd graders!
