Cambodia lesson
« on: August 24, 2011, 10:32:50 AM »
Hola! Attached is a PPT I made about Cambodia. It's a simplified version of my vacation essentially, with stuff about Phnom Penh, Khmer Rouge (Killing fields, Tuol Sleng), Siem Reap and Angkor, and some other random things.

I've put descriptions at the bottom for things that may seem random, but it's pretty easy to follow as there is a decent amount of writing. I'm going to say that this will be for fairly high level kids, but it's easy to simplify if you want to.

My CT was telling me that Koreans know very little about SE Asia (true!) and don't want to visit there. The second point is not true, there were hundreds of Koreans in every place I went. Still, kids don't know anything about Cambodia, as far as I've gathered, so this should be interesting for them.

Parental Guidance: Check with your CT before you show this, there are some images of skulls and descriptions that might upset some people. I left out a lot of more graphic pics and info, but just have a look for yourself. I think my kids are big and ugly enough to learn about genocide, I learnt about it in HS.

Anyhoo, hope you like it. There is another lesson on Vietnam in the HS section too, so you could use both is one lesson (but that might be a lot for them to take in).
