Reading a book with high school students in class
« on: August 24, 2011, 10:16:25 am »
Hi!

I have the highest level class I've had yet. Advanced 2nd grade high school girls. They might be considered intermediate in some areas, but for my area they are very bright. They understand basically everything I say, but they have trouble speaking. I think it is because they are shy, more than lacking skills, though.

I want to read a small book/ short story with them that will keep them interested/ engaged and something they can still do and not be bored to tears with. Does anyone have any opinions/ advice? I was thinking we could do anywhere from 20-all of the 50 minutes of class reading depending on my other lessons. I only meet with them once a week, though. And I need something that can be photocopied, since I don't want to buy books for everyone in class.

Please help!!

I was thinking something girly and somewhat easy.

Have a great day all!

Erica

Aesop's fables seem to be popular for the students.
