Neon Trees - Animal
« on: October 14, 2011, 02:29:01 pm »
My poor high school kiddos. They've just finished up with their midterms. I figured I should do something cool. I taught them the song Animal by Neon Trees.

First, I had them do a word puzzle with definitions from words in the song. They watched the music video then we listened to it a 2nd time so they could fill in the blank. Went over the lyrics. Watched the Glee version because I love GLEE. Then we played Musical Chairs. Ya, I did musical chairs with high school kids! And they loved it!

To help the kids out, I gave them the first letter for the words in the puzzle. I also wrote the words on the board for the fill-in-the-blank.

Answers for puzzle.
1) Afraid
2) Pretend
3) Sick
4) Chemical
5) Heart
6) Cannibal

Enjoy!

My students are feeling winter break coming on, I think. And, my 3rd graders are done for the year. So, I've been using songs in class to keep their attention. This looks like a great lesson. I thought about doing musical chairs with my classes, but I wasn't sure it would work. Glad to hear it was successful. Thanks for the lesson idea!
