This is my lesson plan for building on the first week of introductions.  This lesson is loosely based on Lesson 1 of the High School English textbook that kindenglishteacher also uses for their 2nd grade students.  There are notes for most slides along with links of how I plan to teach the lesson.  The lesson is based on the point of searching for epals or other friends and identifying similar traits and characteristics.  This lesson plan is meant to get my students learning how to express themselves verbally after thinking about each topic.  I teach a very rural school and their English speaking levels are very low while their reading comprehension is moderate to high.

I'll be back to say how it went :D

Here is a second version of the lesson adapted for a similar Lesson 1 in another book for first grade high school.  I added more example sentence structures to help them with speaking.  This grade 1 class is based purely on conversational speaking.  There is no set text for the class.  My future lessons for grade 1 will move in a very different direction with activities focusing on speaking.

BE SURE TO READ THE NOTES FOR EACH SLIDE

This lesson went over really well with my 1st grade high school students.  I had to explain that the worksheet (Highs School 1 - Lesson 1.docx) contained the most common adjectives for describing people in English.  Here are some other materials I gave my co teacher that I use from time to time to explain.  These sheets are really for the co-teacher.  You would have to break them down to simple terms for the students, but this is where a lot of my grammar and vocabulary explanations come from when I need to explain things.

Good to hear it went well.  I have recently started teaching from the same book, and am having issues comming up with good lesson plans, worksheets, as well as activities.  The only reason I now feel I am having this trouble is that one of my teachers expects so much from me and seems to have a temper.  I need help or I fear this will be a tough year.
