Video of my game:
http://youtu.be/fp7a3V2WdCwFind it/Found it gameI teach at an all boys high school...yeah, it's adventure all day long.
1. It's a review game, meaning---the students should already grasp the vocabulary before playing.
2.Create up to 15-20 powerpoint slides with a vocabulary or phrase in each slide. Blank screen, no pictures.
(Optional: you CAN use pictures though. Part two of the game could be just the pictures only and students could then shout out the correct word that matches the pictures.)
3. Create two to three teams. An even amount of cards distributed to teach team. Obviously one card of each vocabulary/phrase.
-Do a verbal countdown 3...2...1. until it reaches a vocabulary phrase and wait for a player to find the correct card in their stash. They must grab the correct card and shout the answer.
4.First player to shout out the phrase in a complete sentence, receives a point. (you can go up to 20 points, to match the amount of cards/PP slides you have or go up to 25 and just repeat some of the slides to give other teams a chance to answer.)
5. If a player shouts out the card at the same time, then rock-paper-scissor should settle the dispute. This is where it gets fun, because they'll often find the card at the same time and the rock-paper-scissor battles adds more excitement.
6. Bonus Round: (optional) Have three bonus cards near you, face down. Each card has points, 1, 2, and 3. If the goal is to reach 20 points first, after each 5 points reached (5, 10, 15) I'll have a bonus round. Each team choose a player from their team, the three players from each team comes up to your desk, and have a rock-paper-scissor battle. The winner gets to choose a card first and so on. If the player gets lucky by choosing the card facedown with the number 3, his team then receives three extra points, and so on.
7. I have 30 students, so I divide my classes by three teams. Divide according to your class.
8. Cards: Simply print out the powerpoint cards. Go to Print, check out the print settings called "Print What" and change the tab to "handout." You may now be able to print multiple phrases on one page. The website provides visual details.
You may now print out what you need.
