Lesson 4: Become a Better Problem Solver
« on: April 29, 2011, 01:59:34 PM »
AND for grade 3 chapter 4 - Become a better problem solver I do this. It's a problem and they enjoy solving it. I'm a little uneasy about using Jesus and Buddah (look at the ppt and it will make sense) but the students like it. Once again, credit to the original poster I just altered it a little.

Come on people, hurry up and join me further on in these books! It's lonely this far ahead!

I'm doing my open class on this lesson, so here are some of my materials.

There's a ppt for low level speaking (I have done it with my C class and they love it) and also a ppt for high level speaking (my open class).  I cobbled it together from various other ppts on this thread, but added in my own pictures and made the structure a bit clearer.

For the high level class, you need to make at least 4 sets of riddle cards for them to collect. You can copy the riddles from the ppt. I don't have a lesson plan for the lower level class (it's pretty obvious from the ppt) but I do have one for the high level class.

In the low level speaking class, I recommend you change the 'That's great' pictures to whichever movie is currently the most bestest in the world (to your students). The example in the book is for Harry Potter. I changed it to Iron Man 3. These things date quickly so do check it over before you put your kids to sleep.

I am also doing this for my open lesson.  I've been struggling with this lesson all week and your powerpoint for teaching the phrases is a lot more clear then mine.  Very helpful,   thanks!

My pleasure! I taught that part all day today (it's the same in the high and low level ppts). Worked like a bomb. :)

My co-teacher likes to start each lesson with a review of the previous class's vocab. This is for pages 72 to 75.

My co-teacher has asked me to create key words and phrases ppt's for each lesson. This is shown at the introduction of the unit to teach the students the words that they may not know, that they will hear or see in the Speaking/Listening section of the text.

This should take about 5-10 mins to go through, asking students to guess the Korean meaning, discussing different parts of the pictures and reading the sentences aloud.
"It's better to have tried and failed, than never to have tried at all!"
Teach this to your students... they'll thank you for it later!

Here's my review class for this lesson.

Hopefully it's useful to someone next year.
