I didn't do loads on this particular chapter simply because we were out of time in the semester before the tests, so we just worked through the book in one lesson.

However, whenever there was time leftover I had a Gangnam bomb game (actually borrowed from another lesson in a different text book) - main focus is For/Against but helps to reinforce 'I agree/I disagree'. I pre-taught 'I'm for/against' and a nice killer for the last 5 mins.

I've combined a lot of material I found on here and added some of my own to form a lesson about expressing opinions. The ppt goes through "I think that..." and " I agree/I disagree." After this, we watched ten music videos of different music genres; the students had to give a score out of ten and their opinion on the music. A ppt and worksheet for this is also attached.

Great idea :D

It's review week next week, so this'll take care of half of the lesson nicely!  8)

The ppt isn't attached, by the way. Would be interested to see that when you get a moment.

Thanks!

The first of my lessons fell flat on its face yesterday, so revising it somewhat today - this 'I think' ppt is just what I need!

Lesson for Part 2 of this chapter teaching "Don't be disappointed". Combination of my own stuff and Jharris review ppt. I've also added a lyric gap fill sheet for the song "Don't worry, be happy". It doesn't exactly match the key phrase but I think it's still useful.

Also, make sure to play the extended version of this song if you're doing the lyric gap fill. The regular video doesn't include the last verse.

Lesson 5 using key expressions;
Don't be disappointed.
Yes, I agree.

and a Sleeping Elephants game with sentences from the dialogue, explanations on the PPT.

*Update - this year I'm going to reward my students with a Doraemong bomb game as they already did Sleeping Elephants last year and tend to get bored of it the second time round.

Thanks to everyone for the previous PPTs - so helpful! Here are my adapted versions.

Part 1 - dialog to print off an cut out are attached. I used 6 teams in general.

Part 2 - Adventure Time - Jake's Perfect Sandwich clip  - you can find on youtube. Used the same clip for 3rd graders as well for the opinion lesson and to draw (in their opinion) the ultimate sandwich.
Bingo game - Selected student numbers to pick out the next picture. Dialog from the textbook game used as well as some others to beef it out.

2017 update:
Part 1 - warm up = 1 song, 2 different styles - which do they like better? / updated example pictures / worksheet for sandwich drawing attached

Part 2 - warm up = 1 song, 3 styles - which do they like better? / updated example pictures
