Book Recommendations for Writing/Speaking
« on: February 07, 2013, 10:40:11 AM »
Hi all,

My school has a considerable excess budget for the English department, and I'm seeking input on some good writing and conversation books. Specifically, resource books for teachers or activity books that are actually interesting for students would be great. Cost is no object. Does anyone have any suggestions on books that you've found to be effective (that can be ordered online)?

Thanks!

I like the Ready to Write series, but they are in English language only. The publisher is Pearson Longman.

The build and grow series of books are very good. I have taught Write Right and Paragraphs to Essays as well as Every Speak! with great success. The Write Right books can be found as PDF's somewhere on the site.

Tomato OPIC books are good ones and not to mention there are other OPIC and NEAT books out there as well.  They will come in handy in the near future with the changes to the national test.

right now, I'm all about The Neat Essential books (published by Neungyule Education). They have one for speaking, writing, listening, and reading. There is a set for level 2 and level 3. I borrow things from them for my lessons all the time.
