Got this lesson from someone else on here...but tweaked the worksheet a bit. The search engine on this site isn't working so I started a new thread. Anyways this was a successful lesson with boy and girls and all levels. http://www.mgoon.com/view.htm?id=4541106 This is the link for episode one, it's a 40 minute video...This is my plan:

Class 1: Show video, give out worksheet
Class 2: Review answers in a group and give students an option from 3 writing prompts i.e.
Do you think turning into a werewolf is a curse or gift and why? Who is your favorite character and why? Write an ending for the story using episode 1 as the beginning...etc
Class 3: Show episode 2, worksheet
Class 4: Review answers in group, share essays.

Hey, this was a great pre-exam class for my HS girls, they were going crazy every time they see the guy with his shirt off...which is quite a lot!

Just wanted to ask, do you have a link for episode 2? I can't find the link on the webpage cos it's all in Korean!

Yes, they girls and boys loved it, and episode 2 has a kissing scene which they all go wild for lol. Now all they want to do is watch Teen Wolf. Honestly they are all so quiet at glued to the t.v. that I wish I could ;)

This is a really good lesson. My class loved both episode 1 and 2. They want to watch the whole season. Including myself. Great job

My students will love this show. Unfortunately, I doubt they can handle the worksheet. Meh!

Ths is such a great idea! I teach middle school though. Do you think they will enjoy it, and is it age-appropriate for them?

@warra.

I watched it today with my special class. they are the most psychological damaged due to abusive families. They are a pretty messed up group to say the least. They were okay with this video. Couldn't keep their eyes off. only thing that bothered them oddly enough was the silver bullets. made them all gasp. guess a bullet wasn't something they were familiar with ya know.

Buuut just so you know, there is a lot of blood and swearing. A mom talks to her teenage son about not having intercourse while at a party. At one point they show half of a dead girl, the other half is torn off. so lots of blood and guts. A teenage boy gets an arrow shot through his arm. people lack shirts often. and there is a very....perky girl in a very tight white shirt. other than that you should be good to go!!!

@ Warra: In my opinion it's not age appropriate for middle school. Basically for all the reasons Wintermute said. I think it's OK for high school but I was going to start it when the credits start rolling, and just explain that a girl's body was found in the woods. That way you'll miss the bulk of swearing and seeing half the dead body. (At least for episode 1; I haven't watched episode 2 yet.)

Thanks so much for the replies! My students even cringe and skip through the kissing scenes in twilight though, so I think I'm rather gonna play it safe and not use this. Pity

I love these kinds of lessons. I teach advanced high school students and this stuff is great for after exams and before Xmas.
I was just wondering if there was a worksheet for episode 2?

I modified the worksheet to make this lesson last two class periods. I show till 14:20 (the lacrosse game) and we talk about the characters, students answer the questions on the sheet with partners, then as a class. Any extra time we just guess what will happen next, ask who is your fave character, etc.

For the second class I show from 14:20 till 17-ish. Right where Allison bangs on the door of the animal clinic. Then I stop (students yell, why stopping?) then tell them they have to make their own story of what happens next. They write a dialog and then perform it. Then we watch the rest to see what really happened. It worked well with my h.s. 1st graders, all boys. They love watching it and actually did the dialogs so that they could watch more.

Worksheet is attached. I printed it as a two-sided sheet and just collected them after the first class, passed out for the second class.
