Scattegories
« on: October 02, 2013, 11:16:31 AM »
I used this with great success in all my classes. I put my students into teams of 4 with mini white boards to write their answers on. After 5 minutes (or so) I made my students put their pens down and boards in the air at which time I counted their answers and gave them points accordingly (1 point per correct word). I didn't allow the students to repeat any words even if they added a second word to it. I wasn't too picky about spelling as long as I could understand what they said.

Anyhow attached is the PPTX that I put together (using ideas from this site and my own) and the random generator I used for the letters.
The students really enjoyed doing scattegories and I'll be making another one before the end of the year.

This won't let me upload the Random Generator onto this site so I'll share it from my google drive. PPTX is attached though.

I just used a random number generator with 1-26, A=1 B=2.... I got the kids to tell me the answer for an extra point for the first team to get it, only one guess though or they just started spitting out tons of letters.

This one is considerably better.  It has all the random functionality included in the PowerPoint.

Yet another bloody template. This website is full of templates. I promise to never post a template in my teaching life. When you need that last minute lesson and you see something great on here only to download it and BOOM template. Please keep templates off my threads.

If you bothered to run the presentation you would notice that it isn't a template. It contains all the entire question list from Junior Scattergories, generates questions at random and supplies a letter at random all within PowerPoint.

The above is correct.
Just make sure to follow the first slides guide with enabling macros.

Also, you need to click 'scatter' as opposed to mouse clicking or arrow

Ok, I didn't run the presentation. Anyhow I put a lot of work into my presentation and didn't appreciate being told that yours is "better"

Sheesh. Take constructive criticism, and improve your own work, rather than being resentful because someone else has better technical skills than your own. That's how we keep standards high on a site like this.

How long did you give the kids to complete each letter?

Here's mine, it's incredibly simple. Stop friggin' fighting.

EDIT: Forgot to say, I just draw letters from a hat, excluding X.

Please don't be a peacekeeper.  I get enough indirect passive aggressive behavior living in Korea.  Let the two battle
