I've made some changes to this lesson so I wanted to share.
- The powerpoint was very dark so I made the backgrounds lighter since it's easier to see in my classroom.
- I labelled the clues in sets of A, B, C and reformatted the worksheet to correlate to the clues.
- I changed two of the clues to make the game more difficult since my students are higher level students.
How I play:
1. Introduce the murder mystery. At slide 16 I give each group of six will have one worksheet, three character profile papers, and set A of the clues. They have ten minutes.
2. Each group will present their first 4 suspects by coming to the front of the class.
3. They will be given set B of the clues and 10 more minutes to choose two suspects to continue investigating. Again, they present.
4. They will be given set C of the clues and 7 minutes to decide who the killer is. Depending on time, they will present or we'll take a class poll to see the collective answers.
5. The killer is displayed on the last slide with the motives - it should be emphasized that the killer is so because she was caught lying.
Some of my word documents have an extra blank page at the end by accident, I never know how to fix that so I setup the print job to skip that last blank page. Also I used real people that they recognize for some extra fun but I did not feel comfortable killing an actual person.
