@ Shhowse - so how did it go? I've found that giving them 15 - 20 minutes on the worksheet and promoting the use of dictionaries works well. I also go through the planets and any other space related words before the start, and then mark the worksheet as a group. With the game, I've found the first round can be a little slow while they understand the different types of questions and the fact that the answers are on the worksheet if they can just find them; but by round two they're very much into it. They go BONKERS when they hit a wormhole, especially if it's late in the game.
How did your girls find it?
Sorry, I got side-tracked yesterday with a very busy afternoon.
The game was a smash out of the park hit!!!! They loved all the animations and thought the spacemen were so cute. I gave them about 15 minutes to fill in the worksheet which we took up as a class, but before we did that I showed them the solar system ppt that someone else loaded, had them call out the vocab they knew, and played one animaniacs song (the one of the planets). Also in my classes they were a bit slow the first round, particularly with the "what is the question" type slides. And they freaked out with the worm holes! I was surprised they liked it so much, because last year I did your Christmas lesson with a couple classes and they were so lethargic - but that may have been because they were burnt out after the semester and exams...
I also decided to play the "They might be giants" song, about shooting stars, and they like that a lot too, but it left less time for the game at the end.
Thanks a bundle for this amazing class!!! One question, though: How do I get the answer to come up on the slides, after the team has chosen a picture or said the word/sentence? Or does it not show?
