Here is a really good speaking game I found on a previous textbook's thread:

Make cards with the number one on them. Give each student 5 cards each to start with. In pairs the children say "hello," then ask each other, "how old are you?" One card represents one year, so if you have 5 cards, you are 5 years old etc.. Then the kids do rock, paper, scissors, the loser gives the winner one card. At the end of the game the oldest person is the winner.

Spongebob board game,

We don't have enough dice for the entire classroom so I just let them do rock, paper, scissors and draw rock=1, paper=2, scissors=3 on the board and that is how they move spaces.

A very simple "how old are you" survey I made with PPt to explain it step by step to the students - I prefer using visual aids to explain things in English rather than having the KT translate everything in Korean.  It kind of defeats the object of teaching English.  Very complicated games, sure, use Korean but I managed this with 3 classes and NO Korean.  it is really easy.

Depending on the amount of kids you have in class, you need to make enough copies.  Check that at least 2 students in each class has the same age - in other words, 2 "3 Years old", 2 "9 Years old" etc.

Students may NOT write their own name in the age grid on their survey.
They have 5 mins to walk around the class finding one student name for each age in the grid.

They must sit down when they filled all their blocks.

We then use the survey to play BINGO.  I like playing T-Bingo. It takes a bit longer than 1 line Bingo and more kids get a chance to speak.
With this part I needed the Korean teacher to help explain a bit.
I would call out a random student number.  That student must stand up.  The whole class asks "How old are you"?  And the students answers their survey paper age at the top, above the grid.
Every student in the class with that person's name written in their grid under that age gets to cross off the block.
I call out the next student number.  The student stands up. We all ask "How old are you?".  Students with that specific student's name can cross off their block.

We continue this until we have a few winners.

I started practicing a few simple high frequency sight words for the first 5 mins of every lesson.  In this ppt you can see an example of how I do it.  For the next lesson we would review these words and I add another 5-7 "new" words.

We then play the "Stand up - Speed game"
Every student gets a small number card.
I do this in teams so make sure every team has every number that you will use in the game.
If you only have 14 kids in a class, use only numbers 2-8 and print 2 of each number.  Play in 2 teams.
We all ask together "How old are you?"
A number appears on the screen.  Whoever has that number card must stand up as quickly as possible shouting "I'm __ years old!"  Whoever shouted his full sentence first gets a team point.
If students shouted together I make them do RPS to see who gets the point.
Team with the most points in the end is the winner.

If you have a lot of time at hand, let students swap cards and repeat the game.  Now they have to focus on a different age and say a different number.

practicing combining sounds to make 3-letter words.  Focuses on -ix and -ay sounds from the book, plus a couple others.

The teacher should say the word, then the students find the letters to spell the word.  After they found the 3 letters, they can write the word to the right.  I usually say the word a few times slowly, then i will pronounce each sound for them.  "Cat.  Cat.  Cat.  /k/  /ae/  /t/  Cat."

The 6 words I used are:
mix, say, buy, May, fix, sax

My kids loved this game! But they don't understand much English, so I made a detailed/animated PPT that would visually demonstrate how to play the game :) My kids understood easily after showing this ppt I made ^^

NOTE to teachers: PLEASE DO NOT USE THESE POWERPOINTS! They have a 'pedobear' meme in them that is extremely unsuitable for any kind of lesson. 'On a scale of 1 to 10, how old is she?'. While the students won't understand, your co-teacher may.

Hopefully this was a mistake by the poster, otherwise this is sick.

This is a good drill, and writing activity. I had the students guess the age of the people in the pictures. I gave them a few options on each slide so it wasn't too difficult. I had them play in pairs. Whoever had the most correct would win something. You can put your picture in there to see if they can guess your age. My students really enjoyed this game!
