Here's an easy game to go along with this topic:
I had my students play the card game Go Fish using all of the ways to ask permission and answer permission requests that we learned in class.
For those unfamiliar with the game:
-Each player receives 7 cards
-The remaining cards are laid out in the middle as the "fish pond"
-Students take turns asking 1 person for a specific number card to make a match with one in their hand. Use the asking permission key phrases here.
Ex. Player 1: "May I have an 8?"
Player 2: "I'm sorry, but you can't."
-If the person asked has the requested card, they give it to the student asking, and that student lays down their pair of cards and asks again. If the person asked does not have the card, they tell the asking student to "go fish" which means they choose a random card from the "pond" and the play moves along to the next person.
-Object of the game is to be the first without any cards
This worked really well in my MS Grade 3 class! Good luck!
