Lesson plan for 3.13.1

Lesson includes: textbook video, notes on new vocab/grammar, how's the weather in (country) where you click the flags and it takes you to that country's slide, textbook activities, textbook game
Notes: minimal prepwork: find out what the weather in your city is like and add a picture to slide 17. Also I couldn't get the (done) button on slide 11 to hyperlink to the next activity so I just clicked on South Korea (the last slide for that activity) and went to the next slide.

Lesson plan for 3.13.2

Lesson includes: winter flower game (hangman but instead of drawing a person, I draw a five-petalled flower using MS powerpoint's pen and remove a petal with the eraser for each incorrect letter), textbook video, textbook activities, textbook weather train game
Notes: minimal prepwork: write down the answers to the winter flower game. The images only appear if you click to prompt the animation.

Lesson includes: review, textbook activities, textbook phonics practice, textbook spin the weather wheel game, weather worksheet
Notes: minimal prepwork: print out the worksheet

Lesson plan for 3.13.4

Lesson includes: textbook video, charades game, textbook checkup, textbook we are the world video, board game
Notes: minimal prepwork: print out the charades cards and board game, and have enough dice for one per group of four. If you don't have markers for the board game, ask the students to use their eraser.

I have an intro PPT with a few extra terms, as usual. It includes some snow idioms, too. I made a game to use the cards from the back of the gook in a listening activity. Each pair has a game board (postcards of the cities in the text), and the teacher reads sentences, as if a weather report. Students attempt to SLAP the correct card over the correct location as they hear it. You may want to simplify or beef up my sentences according to your students.

I also have a review quiz game. I used my "pool party" template as I figure we'll all be ready for warm weather pretty soon.

My kids love to sing along to the dream English How's the Weather Song and this one.
With this one since it gets real repetative, I have split up the roles. So Boys sing certain lines and girls sing another, or divide up the weather names between groups etc.
Or the kids personal favourite, each group gets a type of weather and has to create and action for it, then everyone performs those actions during the song.

I used this with the old 'It's sunny' Chapter from the YBM book our school used last year.
Came in a Teaching materials package a CoT gave me.

I'm going to use this either period 2 or 3. Have the kids listen to Grover's weather report and ask them to tell me what they hear.
Might even have them do a mock weather report in their groups and preform them for the class.

Attached is a 2:45 video from an Old Seasame Street clip of Grover giving a weather report. They cover Sunny, Hot, Rainy, Thunder, Lighting, Umbrella, Snowy, Cold, Make, Windy

Opening ppt, new vocabulary with pictures from text. A little Korean, but this is rather simple subject material so the kids don't need too much translation to get the concepts.
Also attached in a separate ppt is the game that we played. I changed up the original game a little. The kids enjoyed it. It went a little fast, so we played twice then had a class wide position where I brought up two kids to compete in front of the class.

How's the weather writing practice.
I did not actually use this for my grade 3s this year.

I made this two years ago for one of my low level classes I combined two worksheets from the K2 forum on here. Sadly, it's huge and I dont' remember the names of the people I got them from. But I owe them a thanks.

I've used a couple extra 'Lets ____' sentences. they're in the vocab review and the four corners game so it'll be easier for your kids if you've already gone over those sentences with the vocab review before going straight into the 4 corner game - but I'm sure they'll cope either way.

A very simple reading/speaking game. Teams decide how many students will read/speak the word. If that number matches the number on the screen they get a point.

I have also attached a "Frozen" themed grid game that I made myself for speaking

My Co-T added 3 more word; cloudy, hot cold.

Students are given a card and ask "How's the weather?" after the response they write their partners name in the appropriate box and move on.

Simple BOARD GAME. Make whatever rules you want, I've put in numbers and arrows for forward and back spaces. Pictures are rainy, sunny, windy, snowy, hot, cold

I made a simple hammer game and memory game PPT. The first slide is a hammer game where you call people forward to play, then call out a picture (It's raining!) and the students have to hit the right picture. I call two people up at a time, have them stand with their backs to the board, then turn around when I call the picture. My kids really liked it!

The 2nd and 3rd slide are two rounds of a memory game. Click the box once to get a peek, click it twice to reveal it. I threw in a few bombs for a little "oomph". They really liked this one, too!

A Manual Grid Game. I based it off of user lovebunny's Olaf Weather Game, so thanks to her. Sometimes I just want them to do it in small groups and without the computer. I think its pretty self-explanatory, the students speak and flip the cards over for points etc.
