Group Assignment

Hi all,

I am sure there are a million threads on here about group work, but I have been asked to come up with a group assignment that I will be grading. It can't be subjective in terms of marking but rather the students must "do this and receive this grade" type of deal versus it being subject to my interpretation. Has anyone done any fun group activities that have worked well and taken up the 50 minute class?

The only group project that I have done is having students make their own personality test. It is 3personalitypig here- http://www.waygook.org/index.php/topic,64208.0.html. I think you would have to do at least #2 to introduce it. You said it could only be one period?

i did an inventions lesson group project. took an entire lesson. I introduced the topic gave them some ideas and told them in groups to invent something

I've done the inventions lesson.  After, the next class, they had to create an infomercial.  Just google "waygook.org infomercial".  Those were really fun, and you can give clear outlines for the infomercial--i.e. include two exaggeration expressions, two rhetorical questions, one testimonial, etc.
