World Cup 2014 Bomb Game
« on: June 09, 2014, 04:23:04 PM »
Since the World Cup is starting this week I thought it would be fitting to teach a World Cup Lesson and decided to make a World Cup Bomb Game. I used a pretty cool Fifa11 Template  I found on Waygook (cheers Rampancy) and added relevant images + questions. Some are fairly tricky so it's probably best to use on classes with a keen interest in football.

A couple of notes: The answers aren't included in the PPT so you'll have to tell the students if they're correct/incorrect using the answer sheet included in the file.

Also, some questions are 'What happens next' videos. If you have internet access I advise you pre-load the youtube videos in a browser beforehand and try to hide the video names to prevent giving the answers away. If you don't have the internet in your classroom, I suggest you come up with 3 new questions before playing the game with your Ss.

Hope this goes down well with your kids!

NOTE: I accidentally didn't include the correct answer in question D. The actual answer is 8, so I recommend changing the three answers to:

A) 7
B) 8
C) 9

(EDIT: Fixed version attached)

This is GREAT! ;D Thanks for making it. I wanted something for the WC, but I don't know much about soccer, or follow it. But I have ~90% HS boys who do!

There is an inconsistency with World Cup or world cup in the game. For anyone who is picky.

I will also offer some points if they can say what team the players are for, if they don't know their names.

I'm a little confused about question D. On your answer sheet you said it was 7. Is the answer 7 or 8?

Thanks again, this will be great for that silly time after finals!

The answer sheet is wrong. It should read 8.

In the updated version I also changed question E (the picture question) from Arjen Robben to Matts Hummels to make it a bit trickier and to prevent so many red cards.

You can find another bomb game template here.

- Click on a shirt to go through to a question. If it's correct, click on the ball to go through to a short video clip of a goal scoring opportunity. If their team scores, they get 1 point, otherwise they don't. If they get a red card, they lose all their points. And they lose 2 points for a yellow card.

-Click on the X to return to the main screen if they get a question wrong

-Click on the boot on the penalty screen to go through to choose your penalty taker

- Click on the stadium to go back to the main screen after a clip

-Click on the ball on the penalty screen to choose your penalty taker

-Click on the World Cup for a victory sequence

Because of the clips, commentary and title sequence, the file size is far too large (167MB) to send via Facebook or Waygook, so click on the link below and expect a long download time!

Hope you and your kids enjoy it!

I haven't seen the game yet, but I'm excited! Woo hoo! I'm talking about the World Cup (& geography, travel vocab., &c.) in my English Club so I can't wait to use this.

FYI, if you're dealing with YouTube videos, instead of pulling them up ahead of time, it's soooo much easier to just download them and have them ready. Extra bonus: no ads or lag time.

I use YTD Video Downloader (http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/fr/) but if the site with your video is not YouTube or another supported site, then using bandicam (http://software.naver.com/software/summary.nhn?softwareId=MFS_100191) to record the video is another option. (Also, if you want to trim videos, Quick Time Player makes it really, really easy.) Less reliance on the internet. ;) Hope that helps. It was a life saver for me.
