Writing Assignment?
« on: June 11, 2014, 02:02:34 PM »
Hello all,

I have been asked to make a writing assignment to give my students for assessment. There are no guidelines whatsoever. I am sure there are lots of ideas on here but I am wondering if anyone has done anything in this area lately that went over fairly well?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

My first graders had to write about their dream job and how to get there.

My second graders had to pick an environmental issue and write about it

I did two this semester for my 3rd years.  Low level school  minimum 5 sentences.  They were given the topic a week before and had to write it in the following class.

topics were What do you think is the best invention and why/
Introduce someone you would like to compliment.

Grading was based on number of sentences.
Spelling mistakes:  0-1, 2-4, 5-7, 8+
Grammar mistakes:  0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9+
content:  introduction, conclusion, and supporting sentences, intro and supporting,  some information on the topic, anything in a complete sentence.

past topics have been about a dream job and talking about a trip that you have been on.
