Hey Folks!
I teach at a very low-level technical girls' high school where I have complete reign over the curriculum in my classroom. I taught decently well last semester, but I'm wanting to step up the curriculum a bit this semester.
Their English is so sparse over such a wide range of topics that I think they would really benefit from the larger scope and sequence a conversational textbook could provide, something where the grammar and conversation builds upon itself more.
I'm entertaining the idea of using a conversational textbook to really drive the language conversations we have in the classroom in a way that gives the students something they could use in their lives should they need English.
In my ideal world each lesson/conversation would be short enough that I could still incorporate my own pop songs and culture mini-lessons around this new "core" within the curriculum. Any ideas? Suggestions?
