This is not my template - I just edited it for this book.

Much thanks to the original poster!  My students always enjoy playing it for review.

Here are three review activities covering lessons 1 - 3.

Playing the 'true or false' game first gives students enough practice to play the third review game nicely.

THIS IS A REVIEW FOR ONLY LESSONS 1-3 BUT YOU COULD ADD MORE QUESTION CARDS FOR LESSON 4 IF YOU WANTED

The game is Risk.  Students must conquer other students countries by rolling the dice.  If they roll a higher number they can take control of their friends country.  The student with the most countries is the winner.

We played this in groups of 4-6 depending on the class size.

1.  Each student writes their name down in a country.  Have them write their names down at the same time rather than passing the paper round as that takes longer.
2.  The first student picks a country to attack.
3. They pick a question card.  The other students in the team then ask them the question.
4.  If they answer correct they role the dice.  If their answer is wrong then its the next students turn to pick a country to attack.
5.  The student who is being attacked then roles the dice.
6.  The highest scorer wins.  If it was the person being attacked then nothing changes.  But if the person attacking has the highest score then they erase their friends name and write down their name in the country they were attacking.

This game took 30 minutes and that was without even explaining the rules.  The kids loved it once they got use to the rules.

There are also some jokers mixed in with the questions you can leave them in or take them out.

Activities for Grade 5 Lesson 4 Period 6:

First do the "Check Up" section, then continue with these two activities.

This power point includes:
1. "Stamp Clap" (5-10 mins) Lesson 1-3. Thanks to original poster. This is an elimination review drill.
2. "Gimme" for Lesson 4 (15-25 minutes, gathering as many cards as they can).
*Print out the cards for the Gimme game and give students each a couple of cards (I suggest at least three, or more each). This is a speaking and mingling activity.

Can you explain the rules for this game?

"English Olympics" with four games included. You can find ways to milk every game on here except for the blazing pens section.

Took chris0206's lesson and made a powerpoint to give the basic rules.

Didn't animate the world map to show people claiming land then moving to attack then take over the land, but will upload it if I do update it on keynote (darn ppt, much more difficult to alpha clip and animate, when I once used to know how to do it :/ )

Yes "die" is singular to "dice" but because it's awkward to have to explain and the nomenclature these days is to use "dice" as a singular as well, I wrote it that way.

**CHANGES**
- Also renamed it "World Boss" as those are two words I know students recognize easily.
- I'm including his original post and slightly modified files so that it is easier to have everything in once place/post. (I "un-faded" his pictures and text on the cards, maybe this was done to be more friendly for xeroxing, but I use a color printer and it was hard for some students to make out)
- Masked out the web link on the map

The world map also may benefit from having clear borders for each player, but that's a side note.

Thanks Chris for your materials.

I hope this helps someone. I used various sources and posts from other Waygookers to make an overall summary of Chapters 1 through 4. I'm not really good at making ppts so maybe you can polish it up for your own use. Thanks to all the peeps who's posts help me put this together.

I changed the lyrics to "Lemon Tree" and "Let It Go" to review chapters 1-5 with my classes. I bring my guitar to school for these, but I'm sure you can find instrumentals on Youtube to sing along with (or just sing them without music).

For Grade 5 open class this week we are doing a review of Lesson 1-4.
Three activities (1. fruit salad, 2. ears and bottoms, 3. step game), see ppt for the explanations and print the memo for Activity 2.

Hello!

I know im late, maybe good for next year. With the writing review, I stole the wheel from the wheel of fortune game. I had 3 teams. Within each team, each pair had a whiteboard. I would ask them to write down the answer to the question. When the first team won and all the pairs had finished, all the pairs would gain a point. I would then give points to each of the other teams depending on how many of their pairs had finished. I would then spin the wheel for each team. If a team had 3 points, and it landed on 200, they would get 600 points. If it landed on 500, they would get 1500. If a team gets too far ahead give them a win and start again. I also made them swap who was writing, but if it was given to the less able kid I said the better ones could write the answer on a piece of paper so they could just copy it to the board. They enjoyed it. Not as much as the four corners though. They go mad for that.

Regards,

Ian

I had to review lessons 1-5. I used the angry birds mystery box template, and we had the teams write their answers on white boards. I find it works better to have ALL the teams write even when its not their turn and then I give the other teams a chance to steal in a rock/paper/scissors-off if the team gets it wrong.

Hi, I downloaded a review game from a post on here but I made changes.

Such as, the "draw" slides - I hid the pictures so that they have to read and draw first and then the picture is revealed.

Also,  for the write section, instead of having them just copy what's written on the slide, I hid the English sentence and put a Korean sentence so they translate it, and write it down, then the English sentence pops up and they correct the spelling.

Thanks to the original poster.

Happy Teaching

YourfriendBen thank you for making that ppt for the risk/world boss game it looks fantastic i will use it next time i play this game

I faded the cards so the students couldnt see what was printed on the otherside.  My students always try and look through the back of the cards to try and find the bombs/ easy questions.

The Board game in the book wasn't really much of a board game, so i made it into cards to use for this board game!

The students get the various dialogues from the cards.

You can also use this as a general blank card game for any purpose.

Here's a fill-in-the-blank dialogue i made.  It doesn't make much sense, as all the target language is unrelated, but I didn't see any dialogues, so i made this one.
