Hey.
I made a set of cards using the 3 prepositions in the lesson. They can be used for any kind of card game you want to use them for. (memory game, go fish, walk/talk and change, etc)

This game that somebody made (credit to the unknown creator) worked awesomely in the near-identical chapter in last year's book. Also, the In-On-Under song that you've probably already seen. I'm going to use both during the first period of this lesson.

I modified someones reading game for this lesson. Students read the sentence, than choose how many students to stand up in their group. If the number matches, they get points.

Listen and Draw activity.
I discovered a cool app called tellagami and I wanted to use it somehow in the class so I used it here and made a listen and draw activity. The tellegami is definately amateur, but I spent a lot of time making it and figuring out how to put it into a PPT and in the end my co-teacher doesn't have time to use it. So, I decided to upload it anyway... someone might get use out of it. To play the tellegami video you need to click the bottom left of the picture in the PPT, not hit enter.

I did a project and game that worked well, even though I have not attachments.
I gave each student a bug, then I hid small post it notes around the room. Orange notes had in, on, under. Pink notes had flower, tree, rock.
Students had to write the bug they got, then find a partner with the same bug (this way they could help each other)
Then they searched the room to find 1 orange sticky note, and 1 pink. I also hid them on seperate halves of the room so they made sure to get one of each.
Then they had to write their sentence with the bug, preposition, and object they got. Students loved it.
Also I did the Let's Read section with it. Then I did a quick drawing myself of a similar looking picture- with 2 trees, rocks, flowers. I left lines for them to write too. In groups of 4 they cut up the picture in 4 sections. They had to draw whatever bugs they wanted to, color, and write a sentence that matched. They put it back together to make a picture like the one in the Let's Read part.

1) Practice PPT for period 1 covering key vocab and expressions.
2) Baseball game that I designed for this lesson. This activity is designed for the first period (listening).
The premise is pretty simple: depending on how many groups there are, click the circles with the colours that correspond to the group numbers. Have them start at home base--so click all the circles for the groups.
Give each group one set of cards (see cards JPEG attached). Give the groups about 30 seconds to choose 4 cards out of the 8 available cards (they all play simultaneously). After they have chosen them, have the students hold up their cards. Then, choose 4 cards out of a bag. Make sentences according to the cards you've chosen (using complete sentences). Groups should listen to your speaking and can then determine how many of their cards match.
Here's how the system works: if one group gets one card matching, they can move up one base. Two matching, two bases. Three matching, three bases. Four matching, four bases. So for example, if group 2 gets 3 matching cards when they're on third base, give them a point and move them up to second base. (This keeps the pace fast and fair--there would be riots if they got 4 matching cards when they were on third base, only to be allowed to hit home and get just 1 point!)
To move the groups around the board, simply click their baseball to have it disappear, then click the corresponding colour on the base they belong to re-appear. Very simple once you play with it for a minute or two. Assign points accordingly, of course (just click their points to raise).
****I made this game for 6th grade, lesson 8 earlier this year and because I didnt explain the instructions perfectly there was a lot of confusion. So let me stress:
THE GAME IS PLAYED WITH ALL THE GROUPS AT THE SAME TIME, NOT GROUP BY GROUP.
After youve chosen the cards and the groups have determined how many bases they can move, move them, GROUP BY GROUP, i.e. move group 1 first, then group 2, etc. Once youve moved them/given them points, play the next round and have them choose 4 cards again. Repeat this until the game is over and the groups with the most points/are furthest on the field are the winners. ****
The whole point of the game is to sharpen their listening skills while having fun, so its really only very effective as a listening game.
You'll need about 15 mins to play this game thoroughly (15-20 including explanation).
If any of what I've just typed seems confusing, just load up the PPT and it should become pretty clear. Have fun!

Quick worksheet that breaks down the sentences, provides examples, and has the students produce sentences ^^
My fifth graders really like worksheets that make them think :)

Describe the Difference Worksheet
The usual paired Spot the Difference activity. Students take turns describing what's in their picture using full sentences with the goal of finding all the differences. There are 16 differences in this one, and it's been customised to review Unit 7, Unit 11 and some other vocabulary found in the textbook in addition to the material from Unit 12.
If any students finish early,

the Spot the Differences at ActivityVillage.co.uk is also rather suitable, if a little bit trickier.

Here's two games for this lesson. The Minecraft game has an issue with block F so if you know how to fix it, please do so. Otherwise skip that letter for the game. I never figured out how to correct that issue.

non-moving 4 corners game. students chose a number and write an answer. bomb = 0 points. other points appear on mouse click after bomb has gone off. you can adjust how you play (use it as just reading and have ss run to a corner). My class is rowdy so I decided to make them just stay in their seats and write it :)

Game a played for lesson 2
Time: 20 minutes
So this game you can use the stories from the "listen and draw" posted above or you can make your own story.
1) Have the students close their eyes and listen to the story.
2) Students place a piece of paper on their textbooks and put the text book on their heads.
3) You read the story again (I used a ppt so they could read it with one sentence be revealed after I read it)
4) students draw what you say. They are not allowed to look at their drawings until it is ALL finished!
5) Students look and their drawings and LAUUUGGGHHH and LAUUGGHHHH
6) I completed two stories with them and then....I put on a blindfold and my co-teacher chose students, one at a time.
7) Students made a "These is/are' sentence and I drew it blindfolded. Trust me...drawing a dragon under a bed with an elephant on it is more difficult then I realized ;)
Students get listening and reading from the first two portions, and you will be amazed how many will offer up good sentences when it is your turn to draw! We had extra time so my co-teacher and I switched and she drew too ^^

Simple Level-Split Read and Draw Activity
In place of a game, we had the students work individually to complete a series of simple read and draw exercises. There are three levels of worksheet attached. All students began with the easiest and levelled their way up. To "level up", the students had to come up to me and present their work, reading the text and pointing at what they drew. Afterwards I'd give them a stamp and they could go grab the next sheet. All students finished the first one and most managed the second. A few got on to the third level (write your own worksheet, then swap with a friend) and one pair completed it (I assigned them the ol' speak and draw with your notebook on your head activity). The beauty of this was that it allowed for some one-on-one speaking time with each student in much the same format that they'd do a speaking test, only without the pressure.

I made a front and back review worksheet (labeling, fill in the blank, write the sentence). It should take about 15 minutes depending on the level of your students - for my really speedy ones, I added a small word search on the back.

I made and adapted some games for this lesson.
Part 1: Intro and Listening: Expressions PPT and Listen and Draw Game
Part 2: RPS Pyramid style game. I like to play this 2x, first in pairs, then as a mingle activity.
Part 3: We played a telepathy "Match my sentence game," where my coteacher wrote "There is a ____ ____ the ______." Students had to write their own sentence to try and match what my coteacher had written on her paper. If they guessed 1/3 words, the got 1 pt, 2/3 words, 2 pts, 3/3 words, 3 pts. We got some really fun answers by including body parts as the third word and changing "the" to "my," like, "There's a ladybug in my nose." It was fun!
Part 4: Code Breaker Game....a new favorite of mine because it's so easy to tailor to each lesson's target language.
