Super Low Level Highschool Boys Class
« on: May 26, 2016, 03:17:38 PM »
Hi everyone ^^

Wanted to pick your brain for ideas.

I have a highschool grade one boys class of the most unmotivated students I have ever seen. Their level is extremely low... I would say my middle school grade 1s are more high level than them.

Anyway, every time I bring in material, my coteacher tells me to make it more relevant. He doesn't really expand on what he wants, but what I'm presuming he wants is more videos and songs (though he told me to teach using K-Pop which...is just... yeah...)

So basically, does anyone know of any tv programs, short films, or music videos that would interest highschool boys at basically a Middle school first grade level.

Any ideas would be appreciated,
Cheers :)

D

More relevant means doesn't just mean just videos and songs (though that could be part of it). It means making the material something they'll be interested or something relevant to their lives. Why not do a topic about their favorite computer game or favorite sport? If you aren't sure, survey the students to find out what topics they're interested in learning about and go from there.

You could build a lesson around short cartoons. I would recommend

Thanks, I will look into using some of these videos for a lesson.
