Haha, after clicking and seeing the first few picture I thought that Blackpool was your hometown!!  :cheesy: ;D

Usually, photos of Cornwall will make me feel homesick.  But the main one is December.  I haven't been home for the last three years and love the feeling that is around for the whole of December.  The weather, the bite in the air, the smell of a real Christmas tree and everyone being nice to each other.  Just the whole buildup to Christmas.  Korea just doesn't do that Christmas feeling and it's shit.  Not this year though....  ;D

I'm from Northumberlandshire . I do miss Christmas build up to and the best day has to be boxing day where I do absolutely nothing but play the new football manager and eat until I can't lift my arm to move the mouse or change the tv channel and fall asleep.

I don't admit this often, but i'm from the lovely city of Birmingham. I think this is the best time of year back home! It seems like everyone turns off the 'knobhead' switch and become tolerable.

The German Christmas Market pops up, you get robbed blind paying 7 quid for a Stein, have a Bratwurst, freeze your nips off and stumble home. Brilliant.

It's a shame that Korea doesn't celebrate Christmas in the same way...

What?! A fellow Brummie in Sout Korea?? Where abouts?

I was thinking about the German Market the other day, gonna miss those over sized hotdogs and beers this year :(

Actually living here has made me realise Birmingham is a really great city (If you can look past all the shitholes surrounding the town centre) haha

Born in Handsworth (another thing I don't admit often! ) and moved to Sutton C'field a few years back! What about yourself?

I think the beer and hotdogs were the only reason people went!

I agree, I've been slated for the accent by fellow Brits but I always make sure people know we have more canals than Venice!  8)

Randomly opened this for the first time just now & thought I should mention I'm from very near Birmingham also, what a coincidence haha. Bromsgrove in my case. It's.......alright. Quite a nice beer festival in the summer.

I don't really get homesick though, not sure why. I think I have goals here which I wouldn't have had back home. Was kind of in a rut there

Ok, so I'm not from Birmingham but I am from Yorkshire so this post hits home! I'm going back to visit in February and I was making plans with my sister the other night, one of which was going to the East coast. I love it even in winter! The salt & vingegar smell on proper hot chips while you battle with over sized seaguls, and those terrible doughnuts with a brew in a stryofoam cup sat watching the waves in your car. Ahh take me back! Also, yes Dave, open fires! And a decent bath tub not found in a love motel. Don't get me wrong, I love it here, but I can't wait for a decent Yorkshire pudding  ;D

This. I thought I was back home for a moment there!  ;D

Ouch Handsworth! Yeah not the nicest of places haha! Saying that though I lived in Acocks green when I was really really young.  However I lived towards oldbury way till I was 15, close to West Brom, tbh I think its classed as Sandwell not Birmingham.

Yeah my accent took a hammering for a while too, however I think I am losing it as I have been out of Birmingham almost 9 years now! But whenever I go back I pick it straight back up its crazy lol

Apparently, my school thinks it's an inappropriate picture, and NetGuard pops up instead.  I wonder if Net means Internet or Native English Teacher?

My schools all started blocking imgur last week. It was my image sharing site of choice. Gah...

Yeah I know Oldbury well! I also lived in Smethwick when I was younger, I still class Sandwell as Brum!

As for that pic of the Sunday Dinner...

Aaaaah Christmas build up is the best.

I haven't been home in a while and I've missed 2 Christmases, Today I'll finally find out if I can get home for Christmas this year (fingers crossed). Still, getting anywhere from Heathrow wont be easy.

I miss tins quality street

Yesterday I got weirdly sad about buses, how here they have a random door in the middle so no one says cheers to the bus driver. I definitely need a break

I opened this expecting a thread full of North American Christmas posts but it's so nice to see a bit of old Blighty! I spent Christmas in Dubai for the past 2 years, I know Korea isn't that Christmassy but imagine the middle east....haha.
I feel like the whole run up to Christmas is in some ways better than Christmas day! Those cold dark nights when you come in and have a cuppa with the tree lights on and people just being generally nicer to each other....and most importantly gorging on cheese and wine for days.

Oh sod you!!!! I was immune to most of these posts but food man....my dad makes the best Sunday lunch with proper yorkshires and gravy from scratch :( :( :( :(

I don't really miss my home town because it's mostly shite but I do miss being able to go walk in some little woodland without there being a hundred people there.

So excited to be home this Christmas. Missed the last 4. Can't wait to go visit my fams in Brum and go German market, mulled wine...nom nom nom. I live in London so looking forward to seeing the lights on Oxford Street and going shopping. Most importantly I'm looking forward to the boxing day footy: meeting my mates for a prematch drink, then heading to the footy, then post match celebrations (hopefully). Can't bloody wait! I've missed going to the footy so much. Also all the food! I'm going to well and truely stuff myself.

Orange creams and strawberry creams always the first to go.

Heresy!

Always a sad looking tin of strawberry and orange creams left in the bottom at our house

Good luck finding a purple one after five minutes of the tin being open though!
