Yearbook Lesson (3rd Graders)
« on: December 15, 2016, 10:58:00 AM »
Here's a lesson I created for the graduating 3rd graders, that I'm using during the last 2-3 weeks of classes. Goes as follows:

1. Introduce end of school year and what is a Yearbook
2. Show celeb yearbook photos, as the kids guess who it is
3. Introduce what will be in your English class yearbook (the book really will just be a PPT with the nominations) and what each means
4. Make students think of Yearbook names in groups, and then conduct a vote for it
5. Pass out yearbook nominations sheet, and give students 15 mins to fill out

This honestly took up a whole class period, and the kids were engaged the whole time. For week 2, I'll make them design yearbook covers (on construction paper) in groups, based on the name they voted for. Also, within that time, I'll have tallied the votes for each category and reveal the winners in a Yearbook results PPT.

EDIT: Yearbook Results now attached. It worked really well and the students were on their heels guessing who was going to win each category. I really hope more people utilize this next year, because it worked so well for me.

This is awesome! The timing could not have been better for myself and most likely the NET
Community as well.

One thing though, the Channing Tatum slide exposes his entire upper body, which may be an issue with certain Korean Schools.

I would either hide that slide or just change his current picture if this could cause a flare up at your school.

Again, this is a wonderful lesson and thanks so much for sharing it with the community!

This is great! Hopefully my Co-teachers will be on board with this. They told me "the last two weeks are just for games"...
