Hey all, I made a Harry Potter RPG-style PPT game. I spent a lot of time on this so I hope you get some use out of it!

It includes various parts: shopping in Diagon Alley, potions class, quidditch, lake/mermaids, dragon, and battling Voldemort. This game cannot be completed in a single class period.

Also included is a sorting portion, with a personality quiz to make the sorting results fairly accurate. (See my post below for further explanation of sorting if needed.) Thanks to zeegs for the sorting hat gifs/sound clips, and another waygook user whose sorting quiz I worked off of (sorry, I don't remember who!).

All translations have been checked by my coteacher.

All necessary info for playing the game is included in the slide at the beginning and in the slide notes. Let me know if you have any questions or problems.

The font (Lumos) should be embedded. If you have any troubles, download and install the font, takes just a second.

There are two worksheets necessary to play, so please download those as well.

The amount of work and effort that was put into this is phenomenal.

This is seriously the best game/RPG on this site. Its so easy to use and understand, my kids loved it! So much thought and skill went into creating it and I just want to say THANK YOU. Props to you man.

Hi, I wanted to first say- this is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your work!

However,I have an inquiry. I am an English teacher in Japan and often compile things from this site with their Japanese necessary equivalents needed to utilize them in class here. I wanted to do something of the like with the piece you made, subbing the Hangul for Japanese for instance. However, it seems that the document is password locked or something. When I try to preview it via google slides, it doesn't allow it. Then, on my own powerpoint it doesn't allow me to change the contents of the presentation.

Did you by chance put a password on it or something? If that's the case, would I be able to ask for the file for the presentation to be emailed to me ? Or for a version that isn't password finalized to be uploaded?

I made this over the course of maybe two or three weeks during free/deskwarming time. I honestly have no idea how many hours it took because I really enjoyed making it!

@kleinkay:
I definitely didn't put any kind of lock on it (just downloaded it myself to check), so my guess is that it's a font issue. Because the fonts I used are embedded it might not allow you to edit when you're using those fonts. Make sure when you're trying to type that you're set to a font that is installed on your computer.

Other than that I have no idea what it could be... Could you describe the issue with more detail? Is it just a text issue, or can you make absolutely no changes at all?

This looks incredible! There's one part I'm confused on though--I can't for the life of me figure out how the sorting quiz part is supposed to work. I don't see an explanation anywhere in the ppt, so could you explain it a bit?

Ah sorry about that! I thought it was clear, but I made it so of course I thought that

1. Print the sorting worksheet, cut in half. Each student gets one sheet.

2. Go through the sorting quiz. Show the question, give everyone time to write down their answer (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.).

3. Advance to the next slide. This will show how to fill in the sheet according to the student's answer. I included animations for the first few as an example.
E.g., for question 1, I chose answer 4 for as an example. The corresponding value is "1" under column A. For question 2, I chose answer 2 as an example. The corresponding values are 2 under column B, 1 under column C. Each answer does not necessarily have equal values and that's fine.
The point of this system is to keep students from choosing answers that they think will correspond with their desired house while providing a fairly accurate result. The example answers you see in the PPT are actually mine, and I think I got a pretty accurate result

4. After you go through all the questions, students add up all the values under columns A, B, C, and D. The letter with the highest value will correspond to their house.

5. Ask if any students have a tie between answers. If so, use the tie breakers (directions in PPT).

6. You will end up with a mix of students from different houses in each group. Have each group record how many individuals they have in each house (example in PPT).

I hope that clears things up. If you're still confused print out the quiz sheet and just try it yourself, I think that would help. Let me know if you have further questions!

To the best of my knowledge I can't figure out a way around it. When I opened it on Google drive initially it wouldn't let me preview it through any form of medium, post downloading it then, I can't change the font or anything. I can only click the slides and watch it really.

Ah dang, I chose the wrong embed option (everything is in Korean, serious struggle). Updated with a version that hopefully allows editing.

Wow! This is fantastic. I teach first grade so I won't be able to use it in my classes but one of the kids in my class is an international student from Russia. He has a much stronger grasp on English than the rest and he is a Harry Potter fan to bot. I showed this to him and his little head just about exploded. Thanks for sharing!!!
