Where can I find kid movies with Korean subtities
« on: April 09, 2017, 10:58:43 AM »
This semester I have to teach a movie conversation class with my 1st and 2nd graders. I don't have Netflix and CDs won't  work on  my computer. I explained this to my co-teacher who told me to just use Youtube. My problem with Youtube is the lack of Korean subtitles and videos being removed.  I'm at a lost of what to do.
Does anyone know a good site to find kid movies?
Also I'm curious to know if anyone has convince their school to use some budget money to setup a Netflix account.

Thanks ^^

Just get Netflix. If you are always in need of movies with Korean subs it will make your life 1000% easier. For my classes, I just use my personal account though only show them stuff after exams. It's $10 per month, but good luck getting your school to pay for it.

I usually download movies and then download the subtitles separately. If you use GOM player, you can just drag and drop the subtitle file from the folder onto the player and it'll automatically add them to the movie you're playing. Generally if it's a pretty big movie, it'll be easy enough to find subs for it. You have to make sure you've got the right subs beforehand, but I haven't had too many problems finding them yet. Then you just put the movies and the subs on a thumb drive and you're good to go.

Have you tried Korean sites like Koreanbridge?
I've been there before and I saw they are posting links to movies for kids with Korean subtitle.
Are you going to use it for the English camp?

Download the movie from a YIFY torrent. and the go to YIFY subtitles website and download those. drag and drop onto the video player.

Use it for Chinese subs all the time

If you're using a school computer then go ahead stream or torrent but I'm all paranoid of giving my laptop computer STDs so I use Netflix. You can use it on up to 3 devices at the same time so if you really don't want to part with 10$ a month I'm sure there's someone you know who'd split it with you.

you can download korean subs from http://cineaste.co.kr/

you have to make an account first, get a korean to help you if your korean isn't that great, but it's reasonably easy.

after you've logged in, click on 자료실, then 자막자료. then type the name of the movie you want to search for in the second search bar from the top - the one that says 검색어 - NOT the one next to the cineaste logo) - and then click the red 'search' button on the right (the one with the magnifying glass symbol).

you can search for movie names in english.

subscene.com is usually good for Korean subtitles too.

If you're dragging and dropping the file into a player then it's best to check that it syncs properly.  I've often found that you have to speed up or delay the subtitles to get it correctly synced with the dialogue.  It's such a pain!!

By the way, you don't need to get an account to download. Instead you simply search the site through google

example - site:http://cineaste.co.kr/ superman
Put the above into google and you'll see a list of cineaste links for various superman movies...

I have been using Netflix these days. It is just easier than trying to find a recent movie from torrent sites and then looking for subs. Either I login on the schools comp or plugin using my HDMI cord if there is wifi.

Kids love it as they get to choose and there is no need to worry about finding the subs

On the other hand, with downloaded subs, I can merge them together to have 2 languages showing at once (which isn't as easy to do with netflix itself). Could be helpful for people who are trying to learn and focus on the English, while having something to glance at in their language if the English was confusing.

The whole playlist is https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLl4RI1pH-8dH2GvRe5riffuoSi3HnY3Tp

Though the movies aren't actually on youtube. Each of them has a description with a link to naver where he's got the movie stored, although it appears they're each broken up into 15 minute sections (I assume naver has a time limit like YT used to).

Getting netflix will save you a huge deal of hassle and time. You just need to sign in. They have a section devoted to kids movies which should all be good for showing your kids. The selection is pretty good but some kids will probably still ask for really new movies like infinite war which isn't on there and isn't really age appropriate.
