Others with time related lessons. But this one is slightly different. If you want to modify any of the prior grade 3 or 4 chapters around time and use that for this unit here , it could help a bit.

Early, late, everyday, seems to be more of a routine lesson.

Here's zombie speaking game I remade from a different user. The kids are generally very enthusiastic to be zombies. Secretly choose 1-2 students to be a zombie. Then have the kids stand up and ask each other "do you______?" Humans respond, "Yes I do, I _________ everyday". Zombies respond "No, I don't". If you talk to a zombie you become a zombie. They talk to 4 people and can sit down. Ideally there is a survivor or two. Rinse and repeat.

Simple pass the ball game I modified from another user.

A1 Class: What time is it?
B1 Student: It's _____.
A2 Class: What do you do every day?
B2 Student: I ______ every day.

The original dialogue is "What time is it?" "It's time for deng deng." But I changed it for this lesson. There's a lot of slides, I got lazy and stopped editing around slide 35. No one can handle these songs for that many rounds of pass the ball! Once every student goes at least once, have the class write this ABAB dialogue in their book, and give a few more fill in the blanks for pair discussion. This took the entire class.

Here is a game adapted from another user.

Key expression:
What time is it?
It's _____ o'clock.

I turned it into a whiteboard game and gave every pair of ss their own board and marker set. Because of the seating arrangement they were in 3 groups and if every pair did well their team got that many points.

Emphasis on the capital letter, apostrophe, and period at the end.

I also threw in some bonus rounds when it was "It's four o'clock." I asked them to write "forty" and "fourteen" on their boards for a chance to win a couple extra points. You could do that for any question.

This is a pass the ball game. Its about the phrases and not about time, which is a different lesson. I hope it helps.

Lesson 11
I have a fourth grade class with some serious behavioral problems.They are rarely engaged or quiet during our lessons but with this PPT they were the most attentive, responsive, and engaged I've seen them all year so thank you to the folks who originally made the PPT's ( I stole all of em). Just made some edits to fit my class, this is for Listening & Speaking, part 1 but I will most likely be using the intro PPT for part 2 as well. Enjoy!

Intro PPT
-Every day! Daily Routine song. It's catchy and my students loved looking at the visuals.
I always ask questions after any video I play e.g. "What does he do every day?" Students were excited to give answers!
-New vocab, expressions, and practice slide. Students loved the gifs!

Telephone Charades
-Directions PPT
My students played this before so not much explanation was needed. The best way to play for my class was to have each team (there are 6 teams) take turns in front of the class and have my CoT whisper the sentence to them.

Daily Routines Word doc
-Just a simple list of sentences. These are the sentences my CoT whispered to students.

Connect Four Speaking Activity
-Just a backup activity. Honestly only used it in one class, they loved the charades activity so we continued to play that. Some of the pictures are outdated so I changed a couple pictures so my students would be able to recognize them.

My E.O. handout and matching Blazing Pens writing game. Don't play as a race. Play RPS for points. T wins, 1 pt for team. S writer wins, 2 pts. Much more balanced and less likely for teams to lose heart when one team dominates game.
