Suggestion: Cleaning up Spam Posts
« on: July 03, 2018, 11:55:38 am »
Hello waygook.org moderation staff!

I have a suggestion.

Perhaps it might be a good idea to enforce the anti-spam part of the ToS on website waygook.org.

Currently, we have dozens of accounts who are spamming boards, especially those of lesson plans, with posts that contribute nothing, and are usually only one word long. Sometimes it's just an emoticon.

This makes it more difficult to find posts that actually have content among the lesson plans.

Here are some examples, as there are too many to report all at once.

Take some time and look at their post histories. They're polluting the boards with completely useless posts, which actually violates the ToS of website waygook.org.

List of waygook.org users who are spamming content-less posts:

jokernim This user just posts emoticons that have nothing to do with the original topic.

These are just a few examples. I'll continue adding to this post. There are literally of dozens of accounts doing this.

I wrote a few weeks after the lesson plan heist that there were multiple unknown/new/random accounts 'boosting' old lesson plan threads to make it seem like new material was being added in the lesson plan section when in fact there wasn't. I thought it was awfully suspicious and possibly an inside job to boost subscriptions. Could they be linked to these guys?

It seems awfully odd to post just to boost one's post count as this restriction was removed long ago for downloading files.

I agree there needs to be better moderation around here especially in the pay-walled section.

Totally agree. Now we're paying it should be easier to find stuff and everything should be better organized.

As for spam, I always assumed the majority of it was Korean teachers just saying thanks?

So is it just a coincidence that there was a sudden influx of Korean teachers in the weeks after the paywall went up?
Mr. C is not a bad person, in fact is quite a good person here. One of the best people on this forum if you really look at it
