Pancake day
« on: July 04, 2018, 12:53:50 PM »
;D This is a lesson I made for a cultural day I did with elementary students. UK Pancake Day.

Start by introducing the new vocabulary (maybe use some actions).  Play the song and get the students to fill in the gap fill (Change the speed of the song. Start really slowly then go to normal speed and then play really quickly - students enjoyed this).  Sing a couple of times.   Introduce some history/information about pancake day (follow PPT- there are extra slides at the end of the PPT).    Then introduce the pancake ingredients and then play the running dictation game (last slide of PPT needs to be printed and cut for this).  Read through the recipe together as a class.

*Follow the PPT and do the pancake relay race. Then hand out mini white boards and play the quiz in teams or with a partner.

Finish with the song again or 'Pancake Party song' - for older students.

*You will need to ask other teachers to borrow frying pans and aprons for the game. You will also need to make your own pancakes for the students to flip in the game.

Hope this is useful and your students enjoy it.
