Okay, Naver Maps is awesome.

I'm not one to think that having a Google Maps street view is much to brag about. However, when they fly a plane over an area just to get a better view than a satellite could, that's just awesome.

www.maps.naver.com  and search: 갯골생태공원
It's the Siheung Gaetgol Ecological Park in Siheung, Gyeonggi. Click on your mouse and then drag. Zooming in is one thing. This is just a bit more awesome.

Haha, GEEK!

Yeah I love Naver too. Daum Maps has street view (로드뷰) which is a step up, but Naver has almost every hiking and biking trail in the country mapped in with distances, climbs, and even stairs, which is amazing. The GPS system on it is deadly on phones, and when I went road tripping last week to Cheongju Lake, we immediately found a perfect camping spot using the satellite maps.

My advice - get a smartphone (30,000 a month contracts with SK for basic android phones) and download Naver and Daum maps. Cheap GPS right there...

I have a smart phone (Andriod) and Naver and Daum maps never seemed to be able to locate me correctly. It usually just gives me a large 2 mile radius circle of where i could be.
Always bring a toothbrush.

naver is a very useful tool in korea, especially for getting directions

but when google is at its best, it is better

on naver's website i often find that i cant zoom in close enough to see where buildings are, and the naver and daum apps (i have an iphone) have really annoying zoom problems so it can be hard to look at what you want to.  plus the whole interface for selecting a destination and departure point is incredibly clumsy,  whereas google's is intuitive.  maybe there's a cultural bias, but i doubt it

but yes, naver makes my life in korea much better

I have an iphone, so the location function may be different for the iphone versions of the apps. However,  what I've noticed is that it gets far more accurate if you leave the app running in GPS mode in the foreground while you walk a bit in a random direction.  Seems to pinpoint me pretty accurately (within 10m-20m or so) if I walk far enough.  No idea if android phones work the same way.
