I got the CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE game from another user of Waygook.org. All the credit and thanks goes to that user. I just integrated their PPT to mine
Here are 2 PPTs I made for my Halloween classes in my Elementary school.
I used one for Grades 3 and 4 and the other for Grades 5 and 6. They were both a hit with the students.
Grade 3 / 4 PPT breakdown:
-Brief Halloween description. Students can chime in with things that they see and things they already know about Halloween
-Youtube clip: Knock Knock trick or treat song
-introduce the vocabulary from the Youtube video.
-Pictionary: teacher makes three teams. one student selects an image from a hat and draws it on the board. The first team to guess correctly gets 1 point.
-Zombie meeting: Students will close their eyes and the teacher will randomly select 1 student. This student will be the zombie. The students must meet, shake hands and say "Trick or Treat? Happy Halloween" The zombie will scratch their hands during the handshake. If they are scratched they must walk back to their desks and dramatically die. After 1 minute students can guess who the zombie in the class is.
-Spooky Bingo: Review the key words with students. I made bingo cards on an online Bingo generator and then laminated them.
-Review the Youtube song / sing along
-Hall Pass: Before students leave the class they must line up and tell the teacher "Trick or Treat. I'm a little ________" for a piece of candy.
Grades 5 /6:
-Started class by giving students a warning that if they don't raise their hands and speak in English we will stop the Halloween lesson and continue our English writing. They're a rambunctious bunch so a warning was needed.
-Review Halloween history and current traditions
-review Monster names
-Pictionary (as described in the 3 /4 PPT)
-Choose your own adventure game. Students are put into teams of 4 and they must elect a captain. Then the class will be met with a variety of monsters and possible options to defeat the monster. They must read their options, discuss in English and then raise their hands to give their answer. They get points based on the outcome of their decision.
-Bingo
-zombie meeting game
-Hall Pass: as described above.
