I am looking for a school in Korea that would like to participate in a cultural exchange with my middle school students in Texas. If you are interested, please let me know. Here is some info on what I am thinking:

Send and respond to video/ written questions
Write letters
Teach about pop culture
Show the school
Discuss fashion/ uniforms/ trends
Have Korean students write my students names in Hangul
Send pictures
Discuss slang
Show different school events (pep-rally, football games...)
Send pictures and descriptions of food

I used to teach in Korea, so all of these activities would make for fun and meaningful lessons! I would suggest having your favorite class participate and to focus on one activity per week. Easy lesson planning for you

This is a really old post....but is this still a thing?

I have an after school class and it might be a good option for them.

It's a voluntary class so I'll only know how many students I have once they show up today haha.

But it would definitely be an interesting thing to do.

I've always had an interest in this too but sadly I see that many Korean students don't share the same interest in talking to someone on the other side of the world like we do.  So I never bothered to pursue it.   I did a video conference class with Australian students and found the Korean student to behave really rudely on their end.  So I didn't bother for future international exchanges.

I've done a pen pal program with my elementary students with my former school in California. It worked pretty well; however, with conflicting school schedules, we were never able to facebook or skype. The letter writing went relatively well, and the kids seemed to enjoy it.

Yeah I think the writing is the only thing I would have tried. I think my students would freeze up if it was a video! aha. I was thinking it might work for my After School class who are all voluntary and more eager to exchange with international students.
