High School Winter Vacation Classes
« on: December 03, 2018, 09:07:39 am »
I'm a new EPIK high school teacher and need help!

Rather than doing "camps" my high school holds "winter vacation classes". Basically, I come in and take four or five classes a day from different English teachers. I usually see each class about 3-4 times and it's all very unorganized because some of the students are in overlapping classes. Therefore if I do the same lessons for each teacher's class then some kids will do the same lesson 2-4 times over.

I'm looking for ideas for what to do for these vacation classes. Has anyone had a similar experience? How do you handle it?

Please and thank you!

I'm in the same boat and I usually do random games/ tv show (fill in the blanks & learn new vocabulary), the survival activities and maybe a newspaper article or two. I try to have some extra activities up my sleeve in case something changes. For example, I've found far fewer students attending the final week than the other days - so start off strong and go easier and easier as the classes continue.
