January 1st marks the beginning of the new year for much of the world, but in China it happens later. The Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is a two week long holiday that begins around late January to early February. It is the largest and most important holiday in China and is celebrated by spending time with family and enjoying fireworks and lanterns. The color red is considered good luck and dumplings are eaten. The festival has become so popular in recent years that some of the largest cities in the world (Sydney, London, San Francisco, and Singapore) have their own parties and parades.

This is one of my favorite holidays and I have made some fun activities to do with young learns that focus on vocabulary and number practice. Click on the link above or below to check out these fun worksheets. Enjoy!
恭喜发财! Happiness and Prosperity!
