Here is my folder so far:

- Give and Take Card game for period 1

- Ladder Game
Have students draw two-three lines to make the rungs on the ladder. At the bottom,
students should write the numbers 1-10 in the squares for points. Then have them fold
across the dotted line to hide the points. Students then  walk around and find a
friend. They play rock paper scissors. The loser asks:"What would you like?" The winner
chooses one of the foods on their friends sheet and says "I would like
_____". They then follow that lines until they get to the bottom of the paper with the
points. They should write down that friend's name on their sheet as well as the points
they received. Have them do this until all 5 lines are filled. At the end, have them
add up their points. Winner is the one with the highest score.

EDIT: Ladder Game was done within their groups to lessen the chaos :)

- zombie virus activity

I don't have the PPT for this but if anyone needs another speaking game activity the evolution game also works wonders. My CT prepared it and all the students had a fun time :)

He're is an introduction ppt that I made.

It has the basic vocabulary as well as some additional taste and texture words because this lesson will be a repeat for sixth graders this year. The food lesson was part of 5th grade before the textbook change. They should know this vocab already.

There's also practice where they'll answer "what would you like" and then they can free think to describe food items.

This is so good!  My students loved it and it generated a lot of English.  Thanks!

Waiter Survivor Game  (Speaking Game)

Kind of like the opposite of bingo.

Students secretly circle four food items on their worksheets. Students then walk around the room, meeting other students and take turns ordering food. (Student A and student B meet.)  If student A orders an item Student B has circled, Student B draws an "x" on that food and loses one life. After so many conversations, the students with the most lives left are the winners.

I reworked it from gj148's games, so thanks a lot!

Here is a 'Hidden Picture Game' that is good as a warm up activity at the start of the class.

I played this game with my kids today. I modified it from vicarious' Waiter Survival game. :) My kids seemed to enjoy it.

Game story: You are a waiter/waitress and the kitchen forgot to buy groceries. Because of this, some food on your menu is sold out!
Students each get a "menu" worksheet that has various foods on it. There are 10 circles on the top. In their teams, they have to decide which 12 foods are sold out. They cross out these foods.

As a class, you ask "What would you like?" to one of the teams. The team will answer with, "I'd like ___, please."

If the food is crossed out on their menu, students will cross out one of their circles. If it is not crossed out, they will draw a smiley face.
Ex:
Class: What would you like?
Team1: I'd like a pizza, please.

Team 2 crossed out pizza on their worksheet. They cross out a circle.
Team 3 did not cross out pizza on their worksheet. They draw a smiley face in the circle.

Draw 6 smiley faces= win the game!
