That's 3,8 million.  And the air might be a bit better, too.

Oh sure, the air is fine. Just don't worry about the slaves, beheadings and no rights for women.
Haven't you got some pictures of birds to be jacking off to, son?

they behead murderers, rapists and terrorists.

Also adulterers, (though I think they stone them) apostates, women who have killed while defending themselves against rape, drug mules and sorcerers. So as long as you don't take any Harry Potter books over with you, you'll probably be all right.

Thats true. I guess the risk of jail/beheading for saying you believe in Jesus is the same in Beijing as it is in Mecca.

Yes it's amazing how quickly people's principles go out of the window when there's money to be made.

Okay-- seriously it is not that bad.  I mean if you are a normal person going about your business you have nothing to worry about.  I have taught in Saudi for several years, and I am female.  It is not really that bad here at all.  Women can drive here now, we have our own sections of banks and restaurants, and many other benefits.  All the single women that I am friends with have done fine here.  I only know of one guy who got arrested here-- he had drugs and alcohol on him.  In Korea, he would have gone to jail for the same thing and probably have been deported.  Plus the package is way better than in Korea.  So, I guess it just depends on your outlook.

It's not that bad, but if you have no rights in the country. My friend was raped by her date once, and she couldn't even report it because it's not a thing there.
And also if compound living is your thing, then by all means go for it!

I wonder if black people under the Jim Crow laws also talked about having such 'benefits'. Maybe the way things are going with identity politics, things like that will be seen as 'benefits' in the West before very long. E.g 'How can you as a male bank clerk understand a woman's lived financial experiences'?

I'd be very surprised if a school paying $2500 a month has accommodation on a compound.  They tend to be for ex-pats on packages that might make living in a place like that for a short time bearable.

The way I understand it is that most people live in compounds regardless of salaries, I could be wrong, as I've never set foot in KSA, and don't plan on doing that ever, as KSA has a such a horrible track record of violating human rights and women's rights.

I believe there are a variety of compounds, from the super expensive ones to the more modest ones. Some friends of mine definitely lived in female only compounds, because they(they're veiled Muslim women) talked about being able to walk around in shorts with their hair uncovered.

I don't know for sure either, just that a mate of mine was on more than that and didn't get to live on a compound. He advised against going if you couldn't get to live on one.

Go to jail for alcohol lol UMm noooo you won't get deported for having alcohol in Korea.  Hello, this country runs on being functional alcoholics.  Drugs yeah well that's another story.  Hell anywhere in the world you get caught with drugs you get into some heavy trouble.  So yeah your guy friend sounds less than smart.  He's lucky he got deported and not have his head cut off or caned for possession.  I mean if you are a girl that is already married and/or is in a committed relationship then Saudi Arabia I'm sure is wonderful.  But if you are a single girl looking to date, THIS IS not the country for you.  And if you're the type of girl that doesn't hold such things like that to a high importance then I guess Saudi Arabia would work out for you too. :lipsrsealed: :undecided:
