Why are these jobs limited to F visas only?

Weren't they setup to remediate the monopoly of the hakwons? As in parents could let their kids stay at school instead of sending them off to expensive hakwons. Why have they suddenly become the worst places to work at nowadays?

Not true. A 3-year Bachelors degree is the norm and is accepted by immigration.

If you really do insist that the BA be 4 years, then you're eliminating most candidates because 3 year degrees are the norm in UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

I wish recruiters would stop repeating this 4-year canard, because you might actually be putting off some applicants who don't know better.

you always teach the worst students, companies will rip you off at every chance (not pay you on time, word contracts differently in english than in the korean part, etc), you won't be supplied with basic stuff (e.g. board markers, pens), books are never the suitable level, you'll be blamed if students drop out, you'll be blamed if students don't like it (so, students have power over your job), no job security (i've lost a job because of company going under half way through the year), having to find a new position every year - and it always being a disorganised shit show, having to change your schedule twice a year (from afternoons to mornings) which fucks up your other part time jobs, etc etc etc

Agreed. I would also add the following:

1. Having zero, zero disciplinary options for even the very worst behaved kids. Watching them wreck your carefully planned lessons at will, then being victimized by the company, parents and school if you try to do anything to control a bad student.

2. Being blamed for everything and anything by your Korean co-teacher, who is the only channel of communication to the company and whose main aim is to safeguard her job by making herself look good at your expense.

3. Having to be the lowest in the chain and having to please everyone, all the time. Lets see, you have only one unexpected meeting to make a good impression on the school principal 24/7 or they will not renew you. Then you have to have good chemistry with the co-T or they will badmouth you to the company. Then you have to please every last mother. Most of all you have to please every student, including the most horrific and abusive children, because if you don't they will simply make up stories to their mothers who will complain to the company. In reality the most degenerate students run the show. You have no voice and no say in anything, at all.

They're just horrendous jobs and they won't improve until the company and schools actually LISTEN to what the foreign teacher has to say occasionally.
