Here is a mystery box game to practice past tense verbs and sentences. Split the class into two teams - the teams take turns in answering the question using the past tense. Then they will see a mystery box - they can choose to keep the box or give the box to the other team. It's a lot of fun.

This is my 5th grade lesson 7 expression objectives. It's the target language from 단원열기 and/or Let's practice, basically the parts you should drill. Space is wide open and clean for students to take notes for pronunciation or translation. On the back, there's a list to fill in for adjectives better than good or bad. Good can be fantastic, excellent, amazing, terrific, etc. Bad, terrible, awful, and so on. Then there's a list of other common summer activity verbs with lines to write Korean translations or to copy the English spelling. And it's decorated with Vanellope from Wreck-it Ralph.

You should print double sided. You can do as little or as much as you'd like with this handout.

Here is a "pass the ball" game.

You need one or more plush balls for this game. Students pass a ball while the music plays, and when the music stops, students ask, "What did you do?" The student holding the ball answers. (I recommend just showing the answer and letting them read.) For this PowerPoint, each time a student reads, he or she is reading an increasing number of slides. (I recommend you encourage students to shout, "AND...?" between each item. Students will love fishing for more answers out of their unfortunate classmates. I also recommend that you take your time with each slide, and begin throwing more balls into the game as the game progresses. I've used as many as six balls, and students enjoyed it.)

Give it a like, and enjoy!

Just a simple intro PPT, if I make anything else then I'll update this post and include them here.

All Periods Intro: Pretty self explanatory. (Ideal for all periods)

Baskin Robbins 31 game: Students play in pairs, taking turns reading either 1, 2 or 3 boxes. Whoever reads box 31 is the loser. (Ideal for the fourth period)

I received a message about this game but when I sent a reply I could not see that I had sent a message, twice, so I will reply to it here:

The idea here is that each round, the student with the ball is reading more and more, because one phrase is added each time. Of course, you don't have to explain this to the students, because they can discover it as they play. I think that students will enjoy watching their classmates read more and more, and they will also begin to wonder what phrase will be added each round. Also, this allows a lot of repetition for them.

I hope this helps!

Thanks.

Brawl Stars Review Game

I used most of the images from the textbook.
Feel free to edit.
Huge thanks to @powelldr!
Used your PPT game generator to make this.

Still a couple bugs I can't quite fix..
Press "ESC" to take you back to the question select screen once you have seen points reveal.
This will remove selected questions after each turn.
I don't use the scoreboards, i just wrote points on the board.

Activities for Lesson 7. Most, if not all, of these materials are borrowed and modified/updated from other sources.

Twisting Words (Unscramble)
- Scrambled sentences move on the screen, students compete to say the sentence first.

Brawl Stars Review (Bomb Game - credit to owner)
- Students compete in teams to answer questions correctly. Team with most points wins.

Tic Tac Tense
- Students compete in teams (divide class in two). To mark an X or O, student must make a sentence using the past tense verb in the square. Levels become more challenging (changing tense)

Future vs. Past Book Race Game
- Found this idea online and had to try it, my students loved it! Split the board in half, left is "Past" and right is "Future". Divide class into two teams. One member of each team stands at the back of the classroom. You will ask a question: (ex:) "What did you do last weekend?" or "What will you do this weekend?". Students then race to the front with their textbook on their head and slap the correct tense. Then they must answer with the correct sentence on the slide. If the book falls off, the student must start over at the back. Team with most points wins.

Past Tense Song
- Got this from my coteacher. It's catchy and you can play at faster speed for higher difficulty.

I am transferring to a new place for second semester, and I believe the students will continue to study online next fall, so I made PPTs for each lesson for the rest of the book.

I made two PPTs with my voice over for this lesson. I made a similar ones for previous lessons in this book, so I will write the same there that I wrote in previous posts. The PPTs are from the book's website (I think my coteacher downloaded them off of the company's website last year) and I recorded my voice over the slides. The music is royalty free music from  bensounds.com.

If you would like to use this PPT and record your own voice, from the first slide my voice over is the speaker on the right. You can delete those and then record your voice. On the first slide, the speaker for the music is on the left. It is set to play at the lowest volume on a loop for the entire presentation. If you want to keep the music, don't delete the left speaker on the first slide!

Korean English Teachers: you are welcome to use this PPT with my voice for your school.

If you need to change the PPT to a video, you can use the export feature to to convert it to a mp4, however, it doesn't work with all versions of Office. The version of Office must have a subscription in order to use this feature.

How do you play?  How do kids know what combination to select?

print out the second paper and read the words/sentences in order (not too fast!) students listen and write down the combination to unlock the gifs

Two worksheets that I use for this lesson. The past tense worksheet I use during period 1 (it uses words from this lesson) and the other worksheet during period 2.
