Date - April or anytime before if your paperwork is in order.Or anytime after if the current viral situation doesn't resolve swiftly.
Teaching Hours - 2pm - 7pm
Pay - negotiable 2.1 minimum - (base of around 1,400 gbp or 1,800 usd) & severance of 1 months additional salary every 12 months.
Apartment - provided - rent free
Requirements - degree and passport from native speaking country. Clean criminal record. Experience preferred, but a keen willingness to learn is always welcome.
We have a new opening at our school in Donghae. Donghae is a small beach town surrounded by mountains, beaches and valleys. If you google search Mansang beach, Chuam beach and Mureung Valley you can see some nice places in the immediate area. Although it is a quiet beach town, it will be connected to Seoul by KTX bullet train shortly which will make access to the capital extremely easy. Being a beach town, it is great for summer, but being close to the mountains makes it a great spot in winter for skiers and snowboarders, too.
The school is owned by my wife and I. We have run the school ourselves for the past 6 years. Over the years, we have expanded into a reasonably sized school. We have two other teachers working with us and an ever growing waiting list of students wishing to start with us this semester at a new site.
Our school is 95% elementary students. Your job will be to mainly teach reading / phonics and writing skills, but all classes should have communication based tasks. We are a Cambridge YLE year center, so you will need to consider test structure when planning some lessons. Students may need additional practice for speaking parts of those tests during test prep weeks/months.
Usual hours of operation are 2pm - 7pm. We have no plan to open any other classes. However, if you wish to teach more classes , adult classes can be arranged and pay will be generous.
We do try to allow lots of time to do creative projects and additional activities that supplement our curriculum, we are always open to ideas for fun and creative classes and will support you with materials or equipment needed. We also have pen pals with 3 schools in England that we write to twice a year which is a very rewarding and motivating program for all students involved.
This is a very comfortable gig with easy going owners who will help you in anyway we can. We are supportive, will provide any materials you need and can train you with techniques you need or lesson content ideas if you have no experience with phonics etc.
Accomodation will be provided and it will be a modern and clean apartment just 5-10 minutes from school.
Pay is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Tax is very low compared to home, at just 3%.
Vacations - we close for one week in summer and one week in winter. We also close for all national holidays.
